Miel LLC Walters Family Apiary, Miel Duluth, Honey and Beeswax Products She took on the business side of things when Sharilyn passed in January of 2022.

Mark and Sharilyn Walters along with Zach, their son, began expanding their beekeeping hobby into a business in 2007. In addition to the best honey in the Northland, they have developed lotions, lip balms and soaps using the beeswax. Their daughter Vanessa joined in 2020, after moving back to Duluth, to help keep up with all the production. These products use only the best ingredients available, plus beeswax and are 100% natural.

Remembering Our Queen Bee, Sharilyn

Three years ago today, we lost an extraordinary woman, Sharilyn Walters. She was not only the heart and soul of Miel but also the cornerstone of her family and this business. Known fondly as our “Queen Bee,” Sharilyn was the wife of Mark for nearly 50 years, a mother, a grandmother, and a pioneer in her own right.

With a degree in Home Economics from Concordia College, Moorhead, Sharilyn might never have imagined her skills would lead her into the world of beeswax and honey products. After discovering she was allergic to bee venom, she didn’t let that stop her. Instead, she channeled her passion into creating the recipes for the lip balms, lotions, soaps, and other products that Miel is known for today. Her vision, creativity, and tireless dedication are woven into every item we craft.

Sharilyn's legacy is more than just the products she created; it lives on in the love and care her husband, children, and grandchildren bring to Miel every day. Her daughter Vanessa has taken on her mother’s role as CFO, with the unwavering belief that while no one could ever fill Sharilyn’s shoes, her spirit guides us all. We know Sharilyn would be so incredibly proud of Vanessa—not just for stepping into such big shoes, but for doing so with the same love, strength, and determination that Sharilyn embodied every day.

Today, we honor Sharilyn’s memory, her indomitable spirit, and her immense contributions to Miel and our lives. She will always be remembered as the heartbeat of our business and the one who taught us that perseverance and passion can turn even the smallest idea into something truly beautiful.

Thank you, Sharilyn, for all that you gave us. Your legacy will forever inspire us to continue the work you began with so much love. 💛

“In winter, I prefer peppermint lip balm for its gentle, invigorating sensation when the cool air touches the peppermint oil! In summer, a natural lip balm is ideal to hydrate lips that have been exposed to the sun. ❄️☀️

Lavender lotion is excellent in summer for soothing bug bites or my chronic hives. It's also great for applying to my hands and feet at night to enhance relaxation before sleep!💜

Our woodwick candles are perfect for any season for various reasons. They're especially helpful when my allergies flare up or to eliminate lingering odors, as burning pure beeswax effectively purifies the air in my apartment!” 💛

•For winter weather I love our Peppermint lip balm. I love the zing it gives me when my lips feel the tiniest bit chapped. 💚
•Our Warm Vanilla lotion is my top choice because it reminds me of warmer weather to come. 🤎
•Early Sunrise is my FAVORITE soap. Hands down. Every time I use it I feel like I’m on the beach somewhere. Which is absolutely perfect for cooler weather! 💙
