Planned PEThood is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit animal welfare organization based in Duluth, GA. We are dedicated to helping pets and the people who care for them with innovative programs and affordable services. We fulfill that mission in several ways:
--We operate a low-cost spay/neuter clinic that fixes 5,000 owned dogs and cats and feral cats each year.
--We offer low-cost vaccination clinics at leas

t once a month serving more than 2,000 pets a year (currently by appointment only due to COVID-19).
--We rescue and rehabilitate about 1,000 homeless pets each year and find them loving forever homes.
--We run a TNR (trap-neuter-return) program aimed at humanely and effectively managing the population of feral cats in Gwinnett County.
--We run the Go Fix Georgia program, which each week transports pets from underfunded rural shelters to our clinic to be spayed/neutered before they go to their forever homes.

In 2024, 183 working cats found homes where pest control is needed such as barns, farms, factories, and warehouses.

Our creative Working Cat Program is dedicated to placing cats into safe environments where they are valued for their hunting skills. This program gives 'spicy' kitties a second chance by setting them up to successfully live and work alongside trained caregivers.

We have some incredible numbers to share from 2024! In 2024, our team of highly qualified veterinarians and assistants performed 5,426 surgeries to help prevent unwanted pet overpopulation and save lives.

Sophia is one of the many pets helped through our low-cost spay/neuter clinic. Sophia and her family came to Planned PEThood of Georgia after a local emergency veterinarian quoted them thousands of dollars to perform a life-saving operation. Sophia had a pyometra, an infected uterus, and needed a spay surgery to save her life. Thankfully, our surgical team was able to successfully complete Sophia's spay surgery for less than 10% of the originally quoted price. Today, Sophia is happy and healthy in her home.

This work is only possible thanks to your support and generosity. Thank you so much for being a part of this work and for all that you do for animals each and every day! ❤ Stay tuned for more incredible numbers from 2024!

Winter weather is coming to Georgia this weekend! 🥶 ❄️

Your pets depend on you for their safety and well-being. Here are some tips to ensure their safety during the upcoming winter weather.

🐾 Bring your pets indoors. Never leave pets outside in extreme cold for too long. Be sure to watch for signs of hypothermia (shivering, lethargy, unresponsiveness).
🐾 Protect their paws from ice and salt. Use booties or wipe their paws down.
🐾 Before starting your car, give the hood a few taps or honk your horn. Outdoor kitties and other animals often seek warmth under car hoods in the winter.
🐾 Create an outdoor shelter for outdoor kitties and fill it with straw, not hay. Straw repels moisture, making it the best bedding for outdoor cat shelters.

Keep your pets, cozy, happy, and healthy during the upcoming cold weather!

Microchip reunion! This poor pup found himself lost after he had slipped out the house and disappeared. His family was worried and had been searching for him.

Our staff found him outside our Duluth clinic all alone. Luckily, he was microchipped and we were able to contact his owner. Now he's reunited with his family and back at home! ❤

This reunion wouldn't have been possible without a microchip. Microchipped dogs are more than twice as likely to be reunited with their owner. If your pets aren't microchipped, book an appointment today!
