Tesla got her first piece of mail! ✉️ 📬 She earned her Puppy of Achievement after our last show in Glen Rose, Texas, officially earning her the title of the first dog I’ve personally gotten a POA on! I just love this little fireball of mine. 🥰 Now on to getting her championship! 🏆

The last of the Shades of Blue puppies will be flying the coop in t-minus seven days! What is even more fun is that he will be going to live with his new dad in Canada! Congrats, Brian! I cannot wait to see the adventures he goes on with you and his fur-sister! ❤️

I have to confess to a secret I’ve been keeping…. 🤫

Everyone, meet Kiwi! 🥝 This sweet girl is co-owned between myself and my good friend, Debra over at Southern Charm Mini Aussies! I am thrilled to have the opportunity to own this beautiful, six month old puppy, and what makes the situation even more fun is that she is a cousin to Tesla! 🥰 I’m hoping to hit the show ring with her very soon, so keep and eye out for her debut! 😉

🎊 Happy birthday, Tesla!!! 🎊

One whole trip around the sun for my feisty little redhead! Tesla is a whole year old. 🥹 When I saw the first pictures of her at just a few days old, I had no clue that I was even getting another puppy, let alone what puppy it would end up being! But she was so striking with that deep, red coat and bold markings that I could help but ooh and aah over her! At close to six weeks old, I was presented with the possibility of co-owning a puppy from that litter, and at eight weeks, she came home with me. ☺️ Tesla was such a beautifully-timed blessing because she joined our family shortly after my mother’s passing; having such a fun, outgoing pup to focus on helped ease some of those bad moments. ❤️ I am forever thankful to Debra for another amazing Southern Charm dog! Tesla is the perfect fit for us. 🫶🏻

Two more puppies have left to their new homes! 🥹 I didn’t prepare well enough for how bittersweet it is to see these puppies go off to their forever families, but I sure am looking forward to watching them grow into the fantastic dogs I know they will be. ☺️Congratulations to Marc on your boy, Cobalt, and to Clothilde on your girl, Azure. 💙

The snow is almost completely melted now, but I wanted to share Jackpot’s first real experience in our short-lived winter wonderland! ❄️🩵 He wasn’t too pleased at first(reference the whiny face picture 😂), but after romping around with Tesla for a bit, he finally accepted that it was actually pretty fun! ☺️

Tesla was proving to be incredibly photogenic yesterday while we went and enjoyed the snow, so of course she was my personal model! 😂❄️🩵 Luckily she didn’t sink too awful bad in most of it, but there were some deep spots where the snow went all of the way to her belly! 🤣 The pains of only being 15 inches!

The entire litter was absolutely gorgeous and Brooke did such an amazing job raising them! I’m super excited about this little girl and can’t wait to watch her and her sisters that Brooke kept grow up! 💛

We have two sweethearts still seeking their forever 🏠! If you think you might be their perfect match, please feel free to reach out. ☺️

💙 Steel, our blue merle boy, is going to be the ultimate snuggle buddy during this yucky, cold weather! He’s much more on the laid back side, but that’s not to say that he doesn’t still love to play!

🩷 Azure, our black tri girl, is quite an outgoing pup! She is very bold and is always up for a game of tug. She’d be perfect for an active home who is looking for a furry family member that can keep up with them!

If you’re worried about travel, don’t hesitate to ask about our transportation options! We regularly drive routes going as far south as Texas and as north as North Dakota, so we could very possibly arrange something. 🙂

Did you know there is a definite difference between a male and female? Well, there truly is!

Male vs. Female

Does a male or a female make a better pet for you and your family?

It’s not uncommon for people to believe that a female dog will make a better pet. We get a lot of calls for people wanting that “special little girl”. For whatever reason they don’t think that females will exhibit “alpha” behaviors like hu***ng and/or marking. A lot of people think that females are more passive and friendly and that they don’t take part in fighting over dominance, which could NOT be farther from the truth. If you check out the structure of dog packs, the females determine the pecking order and rule the roost. The result of that behavior is that the females become more stubborn, independent, and territorial than the males. These females are much more intent on exercising their control by participating in that “alpha” behavior like hu***ng. Most fighting will usually break out between two females.

Males tend to be more affectionate, exuberant, attentive, and even more demanding of attention. The males are very attached to their owners, tending to be more dedicated, reliable and less temperamental. They are more sociable, more accepting of other pets, playful for years, and take quicker to children. Most boys are easily motivated by treats/food, words of praise and are so eager to please that training actually becomes easier. Their playful nature, however, can make males more easily distracted. The boys are more likely to act silly and more puppy-like, always wanting to play games, no matter what their age. The boys are fun-loving until the day they die, whereas girls tend to be more standoffish and dignified the older they get.

Neutered males rarely exhibit secondary sexual behavior such as marking and lifting their legs or hu***ng. Once the testosterone levels recede after neutering, most of these behaviors will disappear if they ever existed.

So before making your decision on that age old dilemma of male verses female, hopefully this will give you some helpful info to think about.
