We are coming out of retirement ya’ll! Alan has had people in need reaching out to him. He loves the work and finds it relaxing to be under a horse.

In truth I know he missed the work.
Soooo we’re back in business! 😁

Another donkey that hadn’t been trimmed in awhile. The front feet weren’t bad enough to show. These are the before/afters of the back feet.
Owner just wanted her where she could get around.

This horse has cushings. Is foundered and also has laminitis. Another one we just work to make him comfortable.

This is a pony no farrier wanted to touch. We worked to make her comfortable. She’s getting around much better.
This time of the year lots of ponies and donkeys founder…being on all this green grass. Does not hurt to pen them up and dry lot them.

Follow up on the horse that is foundered (has laminitis).
I did some clean up work on his feet. Found the sweet spot and now he's getting around great!
I told the owner he needs to check with a veterinarian. Get the horse on some medication, a proper diet, vitamins and mineral supplements.

Don't wait until your equine gets to where they cannot walk before you call a farrier or the veterinarian.

If it doesn't need to come out I don't do it.

A couple points to make concerning your farrier and horse.

Horse training is not the farriers responsibility.
It is the horse owners responsibility to provide the farrier a safe horse to work on.

Something I say all the time... it cost just as much to feed a good horse as an ill-mannered horse that eventually is going to hurt you, a family member or your farrier.
There's too many good horses out there to put up with a bad one.

This horse is foundered (has laminitis). It is painful. I did a rough trim to make him comfortable. It is hard for him to stand to be trimmed. Checked him the day after trimming and he's getting around a little better.
I'll go back in a week and square and clean him up.

I use to trim and shoe this horse and he was sound. They sold him and then got him back...was told he was lame and would only be good for a yard ornament.
I knew I could fix him. I believe the horse was over-shod. They had him jacked up with wedges. I began trimming him again and now he's sound. We use him. He gets rode and has no issues.
