We’re a week away from Christmas and our foster homes are stretched to the max. We said we were done with intakes for the year because it’s a busy season and we’re having a harder time finding foster homes because of it.
But a breeder called and said they needed to get rid of dogs. It was us, as a rescue to take them, or who knows what would happen to them. So, here we are, begging for foster homes so these dogs can enjoy the holidays where they were always meant to: in a home, as a pet. Their days of breeding are over. Their days of being a beloved member of the family can begin. But first, we need foster homes to help us help them.
Breeds in need:
Bernese Mountain dog female
French bulldog female
Sheepdog x poodle male and female
Golden retriever female
Yorkie male and female
Cocker spaniel female
Bichon female
Brussels griffon female
Dachshund female
Chihuahua male and female
Sometimes, people are surprised to hear such sought after breeds are being surrendered to us and the answer is this: if a breeder no longer has a use for the dog or cannot sell the dog, they need rescue assistance. The youngest dog in need is 4 months of age and the oldest dog is 10 years old. Their new beginnings start now, but we need foster homes.
We’d also be remiss if we didn’t take this opportunity to plea with the public not to purchase dogs from online or in person pet stores. These points of purchase are often from puppy mills. This holiday season, please remember a dog is a long commitment and if you are ready for such commitment - adopt, don’t shop. Please help us try to end this seemingly never ending cycle.
And foster, if you can!
