If you’ve been to our clinic you have met our office manager, Panther. He has been a part of our family for the past 6 years, so it is with very heavy hearts that we must announce we had to say our final goodbyes to him today.

He adored people, liked most dogs and despised other cats. As far as he was concerned he should be the only one. He could not get enough attention and would head butt and chirp at you. He absolutely loved to be carried and hugged on. He liked being brushed and even loved his belly rubbed, making biscuits the whole time, but he hated his toes touched! He loved running water but refused every fountain ever bought for him. He always had to be in the middle of things especially medical charts, but he would bite and throw pens off the counter every chance he got.

He was good at stepping on keyboards, chewing on phone cords, climbing on top of things her shouldn’t and generally being under foot. He loved to lay In the window and greet clients, and he took his job very seriously. Our clinic won’t be the same without him.

He was one of a kind. The best cat ever. We were the lucky ones who got to love him every day. 💔

In honor of Memorial Day, Highland Animal Hospital will be closed on Monday, May 29. We are open normal operating hours Friday and Saturday however. Enjoy the day with your loved ones, and don't forget to think about those who served and sacrificed.

Joker had to board over his 10th birthday so we promised his owner we would celebrate for him. Getting him to sit still for pics was a different story 🤣🤣🤣

UPDATE: Owner found and picked up already!

Found running across the road in front of Dunedin Middle school this morning. No microchip or tags. Is obviously someone’s much loved pet. We have her safe at the clinic but Let’s try to get her home.

This is Chelsea. She jumped the fence at Acheiva dog park. Is newly adopted so may be skittish. Is microchipped and there is a $500 reward for her return.

We hope everyone fared the storm ok. I know we’re all very grateful that we were not in Ian’s path. All our hearts are going out to the communities in SW Florida.
Highland Animal Hospital did not lose power and will be able to be open tomorrow for regular business hours!

We will remain open today and tomorrow morning. By afternoon we may leave early depending on weather. We will be closed for sure Wednesday and Thursday, after that it will all be dependent on what the hurricane does to our electric and flooding. if you need vaccine records emailed in case you are evacuating, please call before 5:00 today. Stay safe!!

We will definitely be open Monday 8:30 am - 5:00 pm for you to pick up refills.
We will make a determination about boarding and keep you updated on changes in hours on Monday pm once the storm has a more definitive track.

Sometimes we do get to play with puppies at work. Miss Betty Bolt is the sweetest little cuddle bug, but she didn’t want to sit still next to the sign so we improvised. 😉

Puppies are dependent on their mother's care for the first few weeks of life and are born deaf and blind. The reason that puppies are born with their eyes closed is because their eyes aren't fully developed at birth.

They cannot hear until 3 weeks or so of age. During this initial 2 to 3 weeks, your practically blind and deaf pup must navigate the world using scent.
