Here is Misty. Misty is an exquisite, 7 and a half year old female Siamese/Tabby mix. She has stunning, icy blue eyes that glow red in the dark.
Shelter life was not the greatest for Misty, so she has been living in a loving foster home for the past two months with multiple cats and a dog and has acclimated exceptionally well to a stable home life! She still has a playful streak in her and enjoys playing with laser toys and the cat dancer toy. She will occasionally sit in your lap... on her terms of course. Misty will be at open adoption hours at LHS on Wednesdays from 6pm-8pm and Saturday's from noon-3pm if you'd like to visit her. Meet Felix (L) and Elvis (R). These boys are extremely friendly and both love human companionship and attention. They came in together as unwanted strays but it’s hard to understand why no one would want these lovelies. Felix is around 2 years old and Elvis is estimated to be around 6. Both are fine with other cats. They can be adopted separately or together for a reduced rate. This is Black Knight! He is an approximately 15 month old, long-haired black male cat. He is quite friendly, but can be shy, especially upon first meeting. He lives with other cats his age at the shelter and he gets along fine with them. Due to his shyness he would do better in a calmer home with no small children where he would feel more comfortable. This little sweetheart is named Adrian. Adrian came to us as an unclaimed stray from animal control. She is a mix breed pup that is approximately 6 months old. Adrian currently weighs 19lbs and is believed she will be medium sized (under 30lbs) when full grown. She is a typical puppy-friendly, curious and fully of energy! Adrian loves everyone and would make a great family dog. Keep in mind that being energetic, she may be too much right now for very young children. She gets along with other dogs and plays well with them. She will need work with basic commands and leash walking. Her new owner needs to have the time, patience and energy to dedicate to Adrian. This handsome boy is named Rocky. Rocky is a mixed breed who is approximately 2yrs old. He was unfortunately an unclaimed stray at animal control. Whoever didn’t come looking for him certainly is missing out on a great dog. Rocky is incredibly friendly and well adjusted. He knows several commands -sit , stay, lay down and shake to name a few. Rocky walks well on a leash and would make a great walking or running partner. He likes other dogs and enjoys running in the yard with them. Rocky really is a perfect dog. Look at this gorgeous girl! Meet Lola! Lola is a retriever mix that is approximately 2 and a half years old and 50lbs. Lola is a friendly and good natured dog. She has lived with another dog and does well with children. She is an energetic dog who will need an active owner to keep her happy. Lola does need some work walking on a leash. She sometimes tends to pull, especially if she sees something fun to chase. Lola will tend to roam so she needs to be leash walked or on a tieout. A fenced yard would be ideal for her to safely run and play. Lola loves to be around people and doesn’t like to be alone for long periods of time. This sweet girl is named Cuddles. She is a small mix breed pup who is approximately one and a half years old. Cuddles is a friendly girl who loves attention. Cuddles will need some work on basic commands and leash walking. Her new owner should be aware that Cuddles needs to lose weight to be a healthy and happy girl. It is recommended that she stay on a quality weight management food and get plenty of exercise. She would benefit from walks on a leash and playing in the yard. Cuddles may enjoy another dog her size or older children to play with. We are open today from noon until 3pm. Lizzie went home but she has 2 long haired sisters looking for homes! We have a 2 for 1 special until the end of January! If you adopt one cat/kitten of any age, the second one will be paid for by a generous benefactor!

This is Oreo. Oreo is a mild mannered 8-10 year old male tuxedo. We don’t know his whole story other than he has lived outside most of his life. Finally a loving family took interest in him and surrendered him to our shelter. He’s a good listener, and if you scratch him under see his chin when you talk to him he’ll start making biscuits with his big snow shoe paws. He lives with several other older cats at the shelter and is calm and laid back and gets along well with them. He would probably do better in a calmer quiet home. Kids would be fine as long as they respect his space. Santa has been very good to the LHS cats and dogs this holiday season. We’ve had many leave us to head to their forever homes. This one was extra special. Our long term resident Cinnamon finally found her home! So from our LHS family to yours, Merry Christmas!

Cinnamon asked Santa, “Is there one more wish left for me?
I would love my very own home, underneath the Christmas tree.”
Santa knew how long Cinnamon has waited and she’s been so very good,
he couldn’t disappoint her, there’s no way that he would.
He had a home picked out, with two dogs to play.
“Go pack your things Cinnamon , You’re leaving today!!!”
Cinnamon gave kisses and hugs goodbye,
the volunteers waved and tried not to cry.
Her beginnings were sad, but the end will be better,
and we’re all so grateful Santa answered her letter!
