Due to the snow, we are closing the clinic until further notice. We are experiencing a power outage, and therefore cannot safely provide services until this issue is corrected.

If you were signed up for the low cost spay and neuter clinic, we will provide these surgeries either later today, depending on weather and patient/staff availability, and/or reschedule for a different day.

Please help adopt!!! Anyone need farm or shop cats and kittens?

Please help adopt!!! Anyone need farm or shop cats and kittens?

Who out there needs a few working cats?! As you know we work with colony feeders in city limits to help monitor and maintain the appropriate numb of working cats in our community.

As time goes by they will notice one or two more. If they are not trapped, altered and vaccinated they become overwhelming very quickly. And we definitely want to prevent diseases such as distemper and rabies.

Today we are looking for barn/shop/garage homes for 2 separate colonies. Both sets are are under a year old. And with some quality time will tame down, or if you prefer they just work and don't necessarily need to be cuddly that would be fine too.

But they need to go somewhere that will keep them completely confined for at least two weeks. Garages or shops work wonderfully. But the fight or flight instinct kicks in, and they will bolt until they know they are welcome. They learn they are safe as you feed them and visit with them a little every day.

If you are in the market for barn cats and can meet these requirements please private message us! Today's babies will need to be picked up between 4:00-5:00! 🐾

Twin Valley wants to give a shout out of gratitude and encouragement to the volunteers at Harrison County Humane Society (especially President Christina!) and the Woodbine Police Department for teaming up with us to provide medical care for the many feral cats that live in our neighborhoods. Nearly every month, the HCHS hits the streets in one of our local communities to humanely capture and transport numerous feral cats to our clinic, where our staff places them under anesthesia, providing health checks, wound and dental treatment, treatment for fleas and worms, spays and neuter surgeries, and vaccinations for Rabies and Distemper (CVR). The cats are ear notched, for monitoring purposes, and then an appropriate number is returned to their original neighborhoods. Some cats are rehomed to local rural community members needing farm cats. This practice establishes a more healthy, more manageable, vaccinated, non-breeding population of cats in town, and these cats defend their territories, preventing an influx of more breeding cats into our neighborhoods. This benefits the quality of life for the feral cats, who are technically wild animals, and enhances public health and safety in our communities. If you see a humane society volunteer or law enforcement officer who is making this service possible, please thank them, and, if you would like to join the effort by volunteering or donating money towards this cause, please contact the Harrison County Humane Society on Facebook, or at 712-644-3003.

Who knew hedgehogs got mange? They can even carry the highly contagious Sarcoptic mange mite, but we’re hoping this little guy’s mites we videoed under the microscope are Caparinia type species. Affected hedgehogs are red, itchy, and even lose their quills. Fortunately, this is treatable and we’re hoping to get this cleared up for out quilled friend over the next few weeks.

Our Story

Twin Valley is a small town mixed animal veterinary practice located in Dunlap, Iowa. We currently have four veterinarians on staff. We continuously accept new clients and patients and although our schedule becomes quite hectic we pride ourselves in providing thorough and careful veterinary care any time our patients need us. We have a fully equipped small and large animal hospital and surgery facility. We are able to do in-house diagnostics on all species as well as x-rays, teeth cleaning, and many other services. We have ambulatory services and make farm calls for emergencies, horse work, and to process cattle at people’s farms.
