I am making an effort to document more of my experiences and chiropractic cases I come across, and I keep forgetting to take before and after photos! 🤦♀️
I adjusted Oliver today, and saw some really neat pre and post changes that would have been SO cool to share… so I’m going to talk about it anyway and hopefully this instance will be my reminder in the future to take a picture or a video pre and post adjustment. 😉
Oliver is a big, stout 12 y/o Quarter Horse that was competing as a Versatility Ranch Horse. About 3 years ago, he unfortunately had an incident (speculating that he stepped in a prairie dog hole and went down) where he likely fractured his pelvis. Since then, he has been retired, as he never recovered fully enough to move correctly behind. He rope walks with his left hind leg and has a pretty significant asymmetry in his pelvis; left glute/side of his hip is raised and his right glute is dropped. His tail c***s to the left.
Before his adjustment today, we watched him walk, and then took a look at his pelvis by standing behind him to see the discrepancy. (This would have been the ideal time to take a picture 🤪)
After his adjustment, he was able to stand square, and was significantly more balanced/symmetrical in his pelvis than before. He still rope walked with his left hind, BUT the postural changes were remarkable.
In the photos that WERE taken, I am using a light force technique called Logan Basic which addresses the sacrotuberous ligament of the pelvis, and is able to relax the muscles of the back and help to balance the S.I. Joints and the spine. I put my block between me and the horse when working with their hind end for obvious safety reasons.
