Saturdays, Available by Appointment Only Parker's Animal Rescue (formerly Lisa Parker's Puppies) strives to place puppies in the correct home after having them in loving foster homes where they are crate trained, work on house training, and taught basic obedience. Parker's Animal Rescue strives

to rescue, foster and find permanent loving homes for abandoned dogs and puppies in La Plata County and the rural Four Corners. The overriding principles of the organization are 1) to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering, and 2) educate pet owners on the proper stewardship and training of animals.

✨ Success Story Saturday ✨

In August 2021, Jenny and Jon made the long journey from Sequim, WA to Durango for a very special reason—to meet and adopt Daisy. And from that moment on, their lives have been filled with adventure, love, and plenty of pibble snuggles! 💙🐾

Daisy has fully embraced her Pacific Northwest life, enjoying romps in the woods, chasing deer out of the orchard, and even long walks in the rain. 🌧️🌲 She’s a local favorite at the dog park, a champion couch cuddler, and an expert in the fine art of apple-chasing (and eating!) 🍏😂

"Hard to believe she’ll be 6 in February! Her favorite things are sweatshirts, car rides, and Cheez Whiz. She still doesn’t understand fetch, but will chase apples... and then eat them when she’s done playing. Meet Shrimp, a resilient and sweet kitty with a heart full of love. She’s ready for a fresh start with a family who will cherish her gentle nature and lovable quirks.

Shrimp enjoys pets and will snuggle up sweetly when it’s time to refill her food bowl—her polite way of asking for more delicious treats. She loves playing with catnip toys, curling up on the bed, and spending peaceful hours in a sunny windowsill.

Shrimp is eager to learn as she understands the basics of the litter-box and crate for car rides. Shrimp is a fantastic companion both at home and on the go. Reo is a sweet and gentle pup, taking new experiences one paw at a time and loving every moment! He enjoys spending time outside, where he can explore, sunbathe, and smell the flowers. Reo would be happiest in a home with a secure fence so he can safely continue his outdoor adventures.

Reo has a curious personality, making him a quick learner. He is doing great with learning his basic manners and is eager to please. When he’s not enjoying the great outdoors, Reo loves snuggling on the couch and soaking up attention from his humans.

🐾 INTRODUCING ARCHIE 🐾

Male. Approximate DOB: 03/15/2023. Weight on 02/05: 142lbs.

For two years, Archie waited.

He didn’t know he was waiting, of course. He only knew that the ground beneath his paws was always rough, that the walls of the shed kept the wind off his back but never truly felt like home, and that, no matter how much he loved his person, he remained outdoors -- alone.

Then, one day, his person left him behind, leaving his owner's sister to step up for Archie. He didn’t understand why his whole world had suddenly changed. Why the one constant in his life had disappeared. Realizing she couldn’t give him the life he needed, the difficult decision was made to rehome him.

Now, at two years old, Archie is finally getting the chance to start over.

He is a gentle, goofy, "velcro" dog who wants nothing more than a friend. He’s learning the comfort of soft beds, the joy of tasty treats, the warmth of human hands scratching behind his big, floppy ears. He’s discovering that love isn’t temporary—that it can be real, and safe, and forever.

Archie’s past has left its marks—his skin is still healing, his paw pads are a bit worn for his age, and his jowls tell the story of a life spent outdoors. To give him the best future possible, we’re working on his medical care. Because of this, his adoption fee will be slightly higher—not because we believe he is worth more than any other dog, but because we are committed to setting him up for a long, healthy life.

Archie is ready to belong. To find the person who will let him inside—not just into their home, but into their heart.

I may be pretty young, but I already know exactly what I love—cuddles, sunshine, and showing off my favorite toys! My perfect day? Curling up in my human’s lap for some love, then heading outside to soak up the sun. 🌞 A fenced yard would be amazing so I can bask in my happy place safely!

I take my toy collection very seriously—I love carrying them around to show off and share my excitement. I also enjoy playing with my dog friends and hanging out with kids, so if you have a family, I’d fit right in! Plus, I’m eager to learn and always happy to please.

Our Story

LPP strives to place puppies in the correct home after having them in loving foster homes where they are crate trained, work on house training, and taught basic obedience. LPP follows up with post adoption training classes or a private session with one of our teachers. We recognize the importance of this teaching and post adoption support rather than just passing them on. Continuing their education and supporting adopters is key to our goals.
