Saturdays, Available by Appointment Only Parker's Animal Rescue (formerly Lisa Parker's Puppies) strives to place puppies in the correct home after having them in loving foster homes where they are crate trained, work on house training, and taught basic obedience. Parker's Animal Rescue strives

to rescue, foster and find permanent loving homes for abandoned dogs and puppies in La Plata County and the rural Four Corners. The overriding principles of the organization are 1) to educate the public on the importance of spay and neutering, and 2) educate pet owners on the proper stewardship and training of animals.

Dill is a sweet, curious puppy who’s eager to know what his humans are up to throughout the day! Dill has enjoyed playing with his sister, Fennel, and together they have been learning appropriate play!

He keeps himself busy playing with toys or resting in hist crate. Once his fun play session ends, he is a fan of cuddles and snuggles—could even win an award for his napping skills! He has enjoyed visiting coffee shops and soaking in all the sights, smells, and sounds of Durango while also practicing walking on a leash. His playful and affectionate nature will surely win your heart in no time.

We’re thrilled to announce that Durango Motor Company has chosen Parker’s Animal Rescue as a beneficiary of their 12 Days of Christmas event! 🐾✨
Here’s how it works:

🚗 From December 13th to Christmas, anyone who purchases a vehicle from Durango Motor Company will receive $100 in donation funds to give to one of three local non-profits, one being Parker’s Animal Rescue!

Mojo getting into the holiday spirit over here! 🌲 ✨

❤️ ABOUT MOJO ❤️

Mojo is a charming pup who loves engaging in fun activities and adores lounging in the sun. He enjoys laying on his back soaking up the rays and chasing lizards around the yard, patiently standing still for minutes just waiting for one to come through the fence. Mojo thrives on long walks and is a pro on the leash, making him an excellent companion for outdoor adventures. He also loves car rides, especially with his head out the window, and enjoys sitting on the porch looking out at the yard.

Mojo is easygoing and handles alone time in his part of the house like a champ. He dislikes baths but is otherwise a very chill dog with spurts of energy, especially in the morning and evening. Mojo has an affectionate side too; he loves a good butt scratch and will lay his head in your lap. Mojo is also being treated for very manageable allergies.

Dawson is a playful, curious pup who’s always ready for his next adventure! Whether he’s chasing a squeaky ball, investigating new sights and smells, or happily trotting alongside you, Dawson brings energy and joy wherever he goes.

This happy-go-lucky boy is eager to learn and has already started practicing his basic manners and leash skills—he’s such a smart little guy! After playtime or training sessions, Dawson loves nothing more than cuddling up with his favorite humans for some well-deserved snuggle time. He’s a social butterfly who wants to be part of the action and will happily follow along to see what you’re up to.

Dawson is learning all about the big world—new sounds, fun treats, and appropriate play—and he’s doing great! He’s friendly with people and other dogs and ready to find a forever home where he can continue to grow, play, and love.

They say the world is big and full of wonders—so far, I’d have to agree! 🌎✨ I’m a curious, playful pup who’s just starting to explore all the exciting sights, sounds, and smells of this amazing place. From learning to walk on a leash (I’m getting pretty good at it!) to discovering how much fun playing with doggy friends can be, I’m loving every moment of this adventure called puppyhood.

I’ve got a sweet, cuddly side too. After a good play session, I love nothing more than snuggling up close with my favorite humans. 💕 I’m already learning the ropes—basic manners, polite play, and all the things that make me a very good girl.

🐾 Teaching Tuesday 🐾

Aweee... look at sweet Dill sitting so patiently and respectfully -- a behavior that we want to REWARD with our love, attention, and eye contact!

But is there a time when your dog should not receive your attention or eye contact? Yep -- when they perform unwanted behaviors.

When your pup is doing something that you don't want to encourage (like jumping or barking), you may feel it's necessary to step in, react, and make eye contact with them in order to make them stop. However, in that scenario, your dog is actually getting exactly what they want: your attention! The best way to get them to stop is to show them that that particular behavior will actually not get them any attention at all. They will eventually give up and cease, which is a great time to positively show them what you'd like them to do instead and heavily reward that GOOD behavior.

It may take a bit of patience to keep your eyes off your misbehaving pup, but in the end, it'll pay off. Stay calm, cool, and collected!

I’m a sweet and gentle girl looking for my forever family. My big brown eyes say it all—I’m ready to love and be loved! 💕 When I see my favorite people, my tail wags like crazy, and my little b***y can’t help but wiggle with excitement.

Our Story

LPP strives to place puppies in the correct home after having them in loving foster homes where they are crate trained, work on house training, and taught basic obedience. LPP follows up with post adoption training classes or a private session with one of our teachers. We recognize the importance of this teaching and post adoption support rather than just passing them on. Continuing their education and supporting adopters is key to our goals.
