CAN YOU HELP?
Temperature predictions have the daily lows in the single digits (some lower) and not getting above freezing until next weekend (so far). We do have several animals that are in outside kennels with blankets and are cared for/checked on daily. However, for the next week or two we would like to move them inside. We need to make space for that to happen.

Would several folks who have the room, right situation, and the means to foster one of our dogs for at least the next 10-14 days? We are trying to make some of our processes better and one step is to have a foster application for interested folks to fill out. So, if you are interested and we can match you up with an animal that meets your situation, please click on the link below and fill out the application. Then contact us to set up an appointment for tomorrow or Saturday (8:15-4:00). We will match you up with an animal for the next two weeks. If you don't have a way to fill out an application, make an appointment with us and we will have them on hand for you to complete at the Shelter. Looking at the forecasts, it looks like we have a couple of days before it gets downright cold outside overnight and doesn't warm up much during the day. Watch out for your pets. Not providing appropriate shelter and food and water does constitute animal cruelty...not a threat, just a warning.

For indoor animals a quick couple of things...shorten walks, pay attention to shivering, think about slightly increasing their food intake if they are going to be spending a lot of time outside and be careful of walking them on salted surfaces, salt can cut paw pads and irritate feet and bellies long after walks.

Oh, and a lot of this applies to big animals too.... Stay warm folks.

City of Durant and beyond (you know who you are), please peruse this weeks' list of perfectly pawed potential pets. While we have said goodbye and good luck to several adoptions and one failed foster (meaning the foster adopted the dog, it's a good failure). As you will see, we have added several puppies and a couple of younger dogs and even a cat this week.

We are getting uncomfortably full, so now is a great time to come on down and see if one of these awesome animals would fit into your family. Give a us call between 830 and 4PM Monday through Friday to ensure someone is there to assist you, or by appointment Saturday 8-10. And if you represent a rescue or know of a breed specific or general rescue that may be interested in one of our animals, please let us and them know so we can coordinate.

Thank you again to all those who adopt, foster, support us in a variety of ways, share our posts, share advice, or even take the time to "thumb" through our photos. You all are appreciated.

Thank you to the gentleman who "pulled the Trigger" today and hit the target. They are fully loaded and a "Trigger-happy" furever family now...enough word play?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!! We hope the holidays were a time to recharge for this new year ahead of us. Sometimes we need a vacation from the vacation. However, to kick this year off right, we chose Phoenix as our pet of the week. Just as willing to play as she is to cuddle up next to you, this young lady is ready to start her new year off right with a furever family of her own.

Give us a call to come out and visit with Phoenix...or any of our other animals.

To all of our followers (both current and future)...this week's listing of available pets. We said good luck to one of our long term pets, Sweet Baby Shae. Joining her were two of our young puppies. This week we welcome Thumper. He will be available on Tuesday (we are closed for business on Monday), after his mandatory hold. And, yes, during that time we attempt to find possible owners and encourage anyone that may know the owners to have them contact us as soon as possible to retrieve their pet.

To everyone, thank you for making this last month an awesome ending to an even "awesomer" year. We look forward to working with everyone in the community in the coming year and improving upon some great events from 2023 and seeing as many animals homed to their furever families. Happy New Year to all of you...your continuing support makes it all possible. Here is to a wonderful 2024.

Merry Christmas...it's here. The Christmas edition...nothing really special about it except our pets and they are special enough. The question is are they special enough for you? Give us a call for more information or to schedule a visit. We are closed today through this weekend ...and Christmas, but would love to set up a time anytime on Tuesday or later.

Ladies and Gentlemen,
We just wanted to express our deepest and most heartfelt gratitude to EVERYONE who contributed to our holiday donation drive!!! Everything you see below is a combination of what has been donated by buying items from our Amazon list and dropping items into our boxes and buying "matching donations" at our supporting stores Tractor Supply Company and PetSense. These two stores have been gracious with their space and their support of us all year. And you ALL have blessed us and the animals we have...and will have for a long while to come. "Thank you" doesn't quite sound like enough but it is what we have. Thank You.

***Oh...and a sneek peak at Aphrodite who is sure to be the star in this week's list of available animals (come on...how can you not fall in love with her).***

Ladies and Gentlemen,
This week brings us a new crop of animals to join a group of great pets from last week. And although we've had several adopted, we are starting to bust at the seams. We said goodbye and good luck to Hank and a new puppy that we had in foster care just today. The rest you can see for yourselves. And don't be fooled by the five daschund mix puppies...those critters are 6 months old and may not get much bigger. So, if your looking for younger dogs that most likely won't get any bigger than small medium sized dogs, we have a bunch. And if you don't agree with breed or breed mix that we are using, come on out and check them out. We would love to be wrong as you adopt one of these awesome animals.

Ladies and Gentlemen, our pet of the week is a little different this week. We think this little dog may have an owner but have been unsuccessful in finding or getting a response from them. As with all of our animals there is a 72hr hold and this little lady has exceeded that. However, if anyone knows the possible owners and they are willing to come pick her up, please let them know. We won't take any adoption requests until Friday to give the possible owners several extra days to claim her.

Ladies and Gentlemen, this week has seen several animals adopted (thank you to everyone who did), several we picked up, and a couple that we had last week with folks interested but fell through. All of these animals are ready to meet you and your family....and bring a whole lot of cheer to your holiday season.

As we post these lists weekly, if by some chance you recognize one of "ours" is actually "yours" please contact us as soon as possible, leave a message or DM us through Facebook Messenger and we will work with you to get your animal back. By City Ordinance, all animals have a 72hr hold so please, if you have a missing animal let us know as soon as you can.

For example, a family asked if we had found their dog earlier this week and unfortunately, we had not. BUT............ we did today and have coordinated with them to get their animal back. If the family hadn't contacted us, the dog would be eligible for adoption 72hrs after we found it. While we try to keep up with community lost animal pages, please don't assume we know about every one. This is a great news story. We are glad we could help.

Adoption alert! 🎉

Precious was adopted by her new family earlier this week. When she first arrived at the shelter, ACOs report she had been mistreated by her previous owner. We are excited to see her going to a new home.
