As some of you know that I have been expecting twins. As of today, May 17th I will no longer be dog sitting for the next 6-8 weeks. The twins have decided to make their appearance early.

Any booking for after that time frame, please contact me then as I will be taking the next 6-8 weeks recovering and bonding with them.

On April 8, 2024, a total solar eclipse will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States and Canada. A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk.

With that in mind, here is a helpful FAQ relating to your canine friends and the upcoming eclipse.

Q: Do dogs actually need to wear eclipse glasses?
A: Dogs will not stare at the sun, and though Speck (pictured) likes to model them, it is not necessary for your dog to wear glasses.

Q: Can the eclipse harm dogs?
A: Your dog can safely be outside with you. They are much more likely to look at you than the sun, but they might look up briefly if they were to see a bird fly by.

Q: Will dogs act differently during the eclipse?
A: Most dogs will not exhibit dramatic changes in behavior, but they might act like it is bedtime. Some dogs may act confused or anxious.

Q: What should I do for my dog during the eclipse?
A: It is probably best to avoid both large crowds and leaving your dog in a car unattended. Keep your dog safe on a leash or indoors in a space where they feel comfortable. It is always a good idea to have your dog identified with an ID tag and/or a microchip in case they were to wander.

It's fireworks season and with Independence Day right around the corner we feel it's important to remind pet owners that fireworks can be scary for pets! A few helpful tips to remember tonight and always:

✨ Keep pets indoors if possible!
✨ Make sure your animal is wearing it's ID tag in case it does get scared and run
✨ Give your pet a safe place to hide inside

If your pet does go missing, give us a call to file a lost animal report, and remember all animals brought to us as strays are posted on our page too! 🎆

Summer safety tips for dogs in mind to help keep your dog safe.

Make Sure Your Pet is Protected from Pests
Ticks and mosquitoes are at their peak in the summer. Talk to your vet about the different preventatives available. Do a thorough skin check (the same one you’d do for fleas) on your dog after coming inside to look for ticks.

Somewhere indoors with air conditioning is the best place to move your pet. You can place lukewarm towels on their neck, armpits and groin area. You can wet their paw pads with cool water or rubbing alcohol and offer him water to drink. Do not force them to drink and DO NOT cool your pet too quickly, as doing this can lead to shock.

Mother's Day is quickly approaching! If you're thinking of gifting a dog loving mom in your life a bouquet here is a great graphic from our friends at Veterinary Health for some pet safe and toxic flowers.

Be sure to keep your pets healthy by researching which flowers and plants are safe especially if you have a curious dog or one who likes to graze through a garden.

I would like to let everyone one know that due to circumstances we will be requiring all dogs being watch be up to date on the bordetella vaccine unless otherwise discussed.
While working with animals can be rewarding, we do have to protect the animals I watch and care for as I have been working somewhere where there has been confirmed cases of kennel cough. If you did not know kennel cough can be transferred from one dog to another through the air and on clothing.

Thank you for understanding!

With temperatures and wind chills plummeting for the next few days, make sure your pets are safe!

🥶 If you are cold, your pet is cold.
🥶 Limit your pet's time outside. Short walks during the coldest times of day.
🥶 Make sure to wipe off paws when you come inside if possible. This will remove any unsafe salt from the paws, and will help your pet's paws warm up faster.
🥶 Watch out for ice patches! Since we wear shoes, we don't realize how sharp ice can be.

This is good for everyone to know.
