It’s Foster Friday and today we have Marley as our featured foster pup!
Marley has been enjoying his time with his foster family and they say he “is an absolute joy to have!” Marley is a little shy at first, but he quickly warmed up to their home and routine and showed off his affectionate and cuddly demeanor. His foster home has two cats, and while he doesn’t care to interact or play with them, he does love lounging with them. Marley’s a big boy but of course he thinks he’s a lap dog, and his favorite place to nap is between his two foster parents. He is still learning to navigate new (to him) outdoor stimuli such as loud noises that scare him a bit but with your love and affection he can do it! He is a huge couch potato and would make a perfect companion!

Ready to meet Marley? Please fill out an application and email it directly to [email protected].

Meet our Pet of the Week, GERARD! As Pet of the week, his adoption fee is waived from today through next Tuesday, October 21.

“I’m a curious, playful guy, and I’m told I’m very smart, too! I have soaked up a lot of learning since I’ve been here — it helps that I’m very food-motivated, because I’ll do just about anything if you have a treat for me! I’m friendly with people and LOVE getting affection from them. With other dogs, I generally give a friendly sniff and then go about my business — I just prefer people, honestly. I’m working hard on my leash walking and love walks and adventures! Can you help me keep my busy brain occupied? Come visit me today!”

"Wait, where's the cat/dog/guinea pig/rabbit/lizard" -- we could go on -- "that's usually in this space?"

Today we're showcasing a few of the PEOPLE at APS that are critical to fulfilling our mission! October 12-18 is National Vet Tech and Animal Care Tech Week. We like to think of it as an opportunity to celebrate and thank all the folks here who support our veterinary staff. They're the people who keep our animals safe, healthy and engaged during their [hopefully short] time at the shelter.

You can probably imagine all the work it takes to care for the hundreds of animals under our roof on any given day! These dedicated staff members give 110% every single day of the year (yep, the animals still need to be cared for on holidays!) to ensure that the cat/dog/guinea pig/rabbit/lizard that becomes your pet is warm, fed, and gets the care it deserves.

Please join us in offering them our heartfelt appreciation and THANKS!

It’s with adoptable Matilda!!! Matilda had a recent Doggy Day Out and Overnight with a volunteer and here is what they had to say about their time with her…..”Matilda came to an APS event and stole the show! She was calm and quiet in the car and enjoyed a pre-event pup cup :). At the event, she greeted everyone warmly and politely, enjoying a game of tug with a few folks. She was also very good with the other two dogs there, giving them a quick friendly sniff and then going about her business. I never saw her tail stop wagging! Overnight, she stayed in her bed and didn’t make a peep, and there were no accidents. Overall, Matilda was a delight! And she makes the most adorable snorting/snuffling noises

It's : Presenting the lovely Nebula! Would you just look at that smoky, cloudy fur and those emerald eyes?? We can't get enough!

Nebula, or Nebby as she's called, is a young kitty who her fosters describe as loving and playful. She'll give all the sweet chirps as she bumps her head against you looking for affection! She still has kitten-like energy and loves to play, chase, and explore.

If you think Nebby would be a great addition to your family (we do!), please fill out an application on our website and email it to [email protected]. And if you're interested in fostering cats or kittens for APS, you can apply to do that on the site as well (How You Can Help -> Foster)!
