those of you who have been around a while know sadie. she has the honor of being the longest running client on the roster. she and i first met on 8/26/04 when she was just about 4 months old. we became fast friends and have had many adventures together. she's still out there looking for found food and new friends - each day is grand in her eyes! this sweetie - Ms. Belle - was also in the original crew of dogwalk clients (boy i wish i saved all those details!). i'm pretty sure she was one of the first 10 clients back in 2003. we were walking her and her wild ass sister (Risa Foster what was her name? it's slipping my mind right now) around and through east campus while their house was being renovated. that's also when i met Robert Walpole :)

i'm going to spend some of this time while things are different to pull out some classic dogwalk photos. starting with one of my favorites - Marshmallow and is toy. he used it to protect himself from me - he wasn't so fond of the hired help at first though he did warm up a bit over time. a little ahead of his time with the social distancing ;) Lisa Berdan remember this one?

i've thought long and hard about what is safe and what is right. while i do feel that we have maintained safe operations to this point amidst the covid-19 situation, as I continue to watch trends across the nation, i do not like the shifts i'm seeing. the walkers and i have come to the difficult agreement to shut down regular services starting this sunday, march 22.

for existing clients who are essential personnel and need our support, or if emergencies arise, please reach out if you need us - we're making those calls on a case by case basis.

we are not accepting any new clients at this time.

we're all maintaining hope that these voluntary (and otherwise) shelter-in-place efforts will indeed flatten the curve and we'll see the other side of this thing sooner rather than later.

in the meantime, for most of our team of walkers, dogwalk is their only source of income. i have set up this gofundme account for them. https://www.gofundme.com/f/dogwalker-assistance-during-coronavirus-recession

100% of these funds will be divided proportionately among the walkers based on their regular workload with dogwalk, in hopes of keeping them on their feet and ready to hit the streets again as soon as it is safe to do so, for us and for our entire community.

in solidarity, with very clean hands,
beth bakke
