ADOPTED Chance, bl/wh, who we fondly refer to as Houdini, is heading to his forever home which includes a small dog to get to know. He figured out how to open the condo cage doors here at the shelter so he is more than ready to head to his own home.
Maizie, calico, will be an only pet to a woman that met her today. Maizie is both gorgeous and friendly., and just the right amount of energy this home was searching for.
Gerard, tabby, has landed in a home with two wonderful older kids as first time pet owners. Gerard, who is FIV+, was rolling all over the place vying for attention. What a super sweet boy he is.
Mateo, long hair male tabby and Nova, a short hair white and tabby female went home together today. Their original owners surrendered them when a new baby was on the way. We don't have any idea why people think they can't have cats and babies but we can tell you that these two were absolutely love bugs. Their new dad was over the top excited to have them both join his home.

ADOPTED Maizie is a beautiful 1 year old spayed calico waiting for her forever home. She absolutely loves head scratches and sitting next to you. You can pick her up easily and so far she will sit in your lap briefly. After surviving the streets, she is a special kitty who deserves a loving home.

Casper spent the first couple of years of her life living outside, scrounging for every meal and struggling to stay alive. Very soon after she was trapped, it became clear that she was a very sweet girl but was still anticipating danger at every turn. Casper loves to be petted and has ALWAYS demonstrated very gentle behavior. She likes nothing more than to have all of her human's attention nonstop. She happily rolls over on her back and loves to have her tummy rubbed and her toes tickled. Casper is in love with her foster mom and is becoming more and more relaxed each day, but she is still nervous and will need a quiet home that will be patient with her and move slowly and gently. She most likely will get along with other cats because she came from a very large colony and was very comfortable with the cats she was around in her foster home. Casper's confidence and trust are building every day and will surely reach full potential in the right home.

ADOPTED Brioche is a beautiful tuxedo kitten with an inquisitive personality. She has been fostered in a home with 2 children and is accustomed to lots of handling and activity. She is also an expert cat napper.

Maddy is a gorgeous tortoiseshell spayed female, approximately 6yo, who came to us as part of a TNR project. A kind-hearted Good Samaritan reached out to Standish for help with stray and feral cats in their neighborhood, and Maddy was one of the lucky ones we rescued.

After spending time in a foster home for assessment and socialization, it became clear that Maddy is a friendly cat who loves the comfort of indoor life. She adores being petted, rewarding you with happy purrs and adorable biscuit-making. She also enjoys playing with wand toys and, with a slow and proper introduction, she would likely do well with other cats.

Arista is a 3-year-old spayed female who has come such a long way in the few months that she has been in foster care. She is now at the shelter, ready to find her perfect home. She is gentle and sweet and mostly loves to have her cheeks and under her chin petted. She is a bit shy so she would do best in a quiet home that will be patient with her while she adjusts to a new environment with new people. She was rescued from a cat colony and gets along with other cats.

Standish Humane Society will be hosting the Animal Rescue League of Boston's Spay Waggin'® at our shelter, 622 Congress Street, Duxbury on Thursday, February 13. Limited openings are available for female and male cats and kittens only; kittens must be at least 3 months old and weigh at least 3 pounds. The fee is $175 for male neutering or female spaying and includes both Rabies and Distemper vaccines. ADOPTED Denali, torbie, and Juneau, black, were adopted together today. Of special note is that Juneau is positive for FIV. Please know that cats with FIV can and do live with cats that are not FIV positive. It's all about the matching and making sure the cats are introduced properly. Denali and Juneau will be joining a senior cat at home and will be spoiled beyond belief. Their new mom and dad were in tears with joy when this duo chose them.
Naja, black, female is in her forever home. Naja, who was always sweet but extremely shy, was chosen by a woman that wanted a companion and could see that Naja will come around with time and patience. Naja was her usual gentle self allowing full body and belly rubs.
Violetta, calico, will be an only pet to a couple that have been looking for the right fit for a while. They are cat experienced but have been without a cat for a couple of years. Violetta was instantly friendly and welcoming their attention..

Naja is a very sweet, playful and lovable girl who loves to be petted and have her belly rubbed. She is quite a drama queen and loves to stretch out on her back and reach for you with her front paws. Angus was living in a cage in someone's basement, who luckily, agreed to surrender him so Standish could find him a caring and loving home. Angus has come such a long way. ADOPTED Otter, b/w, and his brother Goose, bl, went home to be friends of a little sweet girl. The boys were absolutely adorable with her and playing and allowing her to pet them. The boys, who initially started out so shy, were confident that they liked this home.
Tyler, gr/wh, and Jasper, gr/wh, went home together. While they don't know each other just yet, this home is sure they can introduce the boys slowly and properly. Tyler was a friendly and sweet boy and Jasper, who is very very shy but sweet seem like they will be a great fit together.
Cindy, a dlh grey, will be an only cat to a woman and her adult son who reside in the same residence. Cindy was in her lap within seconds of meeting and will be spoiled in her new role as house ambassador.
Papa, tabby/wh, join a young couple as their first pet together. Papa was an absolute doll from the minute he arrived. Tonight wh was rolling all over and purring up a storm.
Jennifer, bl/wh,, went home as a companion to a young professional and her roommate that work from home. Jennifer will have two adults to keep her company and provide all the love and play she can stand. Jennifer came into Standish to continue her socialization journey and made fabulous strides here. By the time she left Standish she was insisting on being petted and rubbing on anyone that came near her.

FOREVER HOME UPDATE--TIGGER, now ROCCO: We adopted him from you on November 9. After spending his first few weeks at home scared of everyone and everything, Rocco has fully embraced his kittenhood and now become a best friend and playmate to his older brother Jazz, a constant companion who follows us around the house making excited sounds like a turkey gobble and zooming the halls. He is playful, loving and has completed our family. We couldn’t be more grateful.

Zoot is a precious four month old female kitten who loves snuggling with her stuffed animals. She purrs nonstop when you pet her and she is a very gentle and playful girl.
