Pine Woods Animal Hospital is excited to announce that with proceeds raised from our 5k, we have chosen K9 Officer Romko (along with his partner Office Dan Roth) of the Barnstable PD to receive a life saving vest through Massachusetts Vest A Dog.

BULLET RESISTANT K-9 VESTS
While law enforcement agencies provide bullet-resistant vests for their human officers, they are unable to fund vests for K-9 officers. As K-9s are trained to give up their lives to protect their partners and all of us, we believe it is every bit as important to protect them.
A bulletproof K9 vest ranges from $1,900 to *$2,900 each (handler/dept choice). All K9 vests will also protect against blunt force trauma if kicked, punched, or struck with an object, like a bat.

Dog bite prevention week is April 7 - 13

Remember that ANY dog can bite if provoked. Almost 1 in 5 people bitten by dogs require medical attention and children are the most common victims of bites.

A dog may bite because it's stressed, scared, feeling threatened, protecting something, feeling sick, or injured.

Dog bites are often preventable.

Keep dogs and small children separate. Recognize risky situations, and read dog body language. Respect dogs and give space.
