This long, sorry,
Our sweet girl Ani turned 8 years old today 🥰 we are so thankful for this day because just 12 days ago we almost lost her. We took her in for a morning vet appointment for some blood work, she was diagnosed with a liver infection back in March so she's been on a special diet and supplements and checking blood work to see how it's going, everything was good. We came home and after about 10 - 15 minutes I gave her her breakfast because I never feed right before an appointment so we don't run the risk of bloat with the stress and a full belly. She ate her food and about 5 minutes after that my fiance gave her her water, another 5 minutes passed and he says hey can you come here to me and I went to his computer room where they were at and she was retching, foaming at the mouth and standing funny all stiff with her head down not wanting to move. My worst fear was realized I knew right away what was happening although I'd never personally seen it but we all know with these guys we learn, we research we do anything we can to try to prevent that dreaded word... Bloat. I told my fiance we're going back to the vet let's go. I took another 5 minutes to put the other dogs back in their areas and we got in the car as I called the vet informing them of the situation and we were on the way. It took 20 minutes to drive to the vet, her retching the whole way, a horrible noise when you know what's happening to your baby. The vet was ready for us they instantly put in an iv we said our good byes and our I love you's and they put her under to go straight to surgery for they knew how she looked and was acting the stomach had already fipped. They kept it optimistic saying since we seen it as it was happening and got her in right away she had a better chance at surviving this. We went home and sat by the phone. She made it out of surgery with a little trouble keeping her temp up but she stabilized and began to hold her temp, so looking better already. She came home a
