CALYPSO UPDATE :

Dr Parr is a miracle worker
Calypso had a nastier past than I thought .
-Was a breeder bird but failed so they threw him in a 10 gallon fish tank with a towel and left him there isolated in the dark in a bathroom.
-Due to the years being in tank he started plucking and mutilated his legs . So owner stuck his feet in a qtip box and that was her fix . So he sat like that for god knows how long
- He was rescued by a wonderful couple after seeing his condition, they vetted him but the vets weren’t avian but exotic . They basically said he does what he does the end . 4 years of battling his injuries they had to surrender and rehome due to working a lot and finances . So 4 years out of 21 he was loved immensely!
- Brings us to today …
Did beak and nails, did X-rays and tried to get blood work but wasn’t possible as legs were to bad and jugular wasn’t happening ( trying again in 2 weeks)

X-rays showed probable cause of plucking and mutilation … he has severe arthritis from hips all the ways down to every digit of toes , every joint hip down 😩😩😩😩😩 the pain probably caused this and it’s from being in tank . She couldn’t even stretch his legs out for the X-ray the arthritis is so bad.

Leg swollen from the mutilation and extremely painful so we got antibiotics twice a day
Also cellebrex once a day for paint for rest of life and if no improvement we are adding gabapetin as well for rest of life
Christine’s anti inflammatory powder , calming powder , and cbd treats added immediately ❤️
He already on great diet and loves veggies !

Ordered collar from birdssupplies .com…
Ordered a tent to rest in and some fleece cage liners and a small cage heater pad for bottom of cage to help with arthritis.
Making some flat perches and ramp and he will have a hanging cubby as well.

Praying we can get this guy feeling less pain and leg infection gone and stop the mutilation!
Long journey ahead but he has a big spirit!

Owners took to vet numerous times. Have paperwork….vet just couldn’t figure it out.. financially got expensive for them .
Dr Parr n staff will definitely without a doubt get this lil man comfy, healthy n figure out what’s going on with him ..

This is Cylapso , he is a 21/22 year old Eclectus
He is severely bonded with his mama. Under their financial circumstances she has to return to work full time and she fears when doing so his condition may get worse .
Cylapso is a plucker and has been for life she was told . He was meant to be a breeder by his first owners … he fell short of being a breeder so they stuck him in a plain fish aquarium with nothing and isolated him by himself completely . His mama rescued him and understandly so he got attached .
Cylapso not only plucks but does self mutilation also on his legs mostly and has arthritis also. Baths and crème gets put on to stop any infections .
With her act of selflessness and pure love and a saddened heavy heart she can’t afford his medical care and working full time she fears he will mutilate worse ..… so she is bringing him to us.
She will be able to call and text and even visit if she wishes . Already have appt with Dr. Parr Tuesday for check up , beak/nails as they are over due she said, and blood work .
His diet is awesome , he doesn’t like toys as of yet and we will do everything we can to make this little boy happy and healthy and thrive !!!!
He is coming Friday saddened and excited at the same time for both Cylapso and his mama.
What makes me more mad and angry is she went seeking help to find him a home financially sound to afford his medical care and to love him so he wont get worse … And people just were mean and cruel and made her feel bad for her seeking a better life for him especially with his medical needs . This sickens me how she was treated and I’m sure so many many more are treated bad . This is heartbreaking enough without the cruelty. I was the only person to reassure her it’s ok and she is amazing for being brave and strong and selfless.
People are so cruel… be nice and kind and never knock anyone for doing the right thing. Life can suck… a kind word goes along way!

Covered with two boxes to fit it but cheap tape would not hold it, so I decided to shrink wrap the loving glory out of it 😂🤣🤣🤣

These will be made into tree stands …
Going to use these and natural manzanita together for beautiful shades of different manzanita .
The ghost wood tree stands will have a price change as they are tad more expensive. But gorgeous and will last parrots lifetime.
We buy homes 100s of thousands of dollars … this is part of your parrots home for their life 30-80 years ❤️❤️❤️ worth the investment!!!
I’ve seen used one same price as new ones so they hold value in the parrot community!!

Making smaller manzanita perches for birds like Ringneck , conures , bungies , parakeets ect ( perches for the smaller birds maybe tad big diameter but keep in mind you want different widths and woods)
