3 years and 8 months ago, Upper Midwest Great Dane Rescue along with Tiny N Tall Rescue Inc. embarked on a journey to save dozens of emaciated Great Danes and German Shepherds. We pulled Danes of all ages, but the story was the same.... Malnourished.... scared of humans, scared of dogs....scared of LIFE. Most had never known a world outside of a wired kennel inside a dark building. The older ones, used for overbreeding...the younger ones - well that was the plan of course. For many, the story ended with a family on a warm couch somewhere.

Promise, she was a rare beauty that shined deeply from within. She landed safely with a Foster who helped her to learn how not to fear other dogs and that water was ALWAYS going to be available no matter what. You showed us that no matter how badly people had treated you - you LOVED people. You loved instantly, with the sweetest and kindest way about you. You would greet each day with a joy that most will never understand and you deserved the best of everything in the world. We're sorry you never got your own little girl to play dress up with - how you loved to play dress up! But we are thankful for every minute you shared with us, teaching us that sometimes saving just one DOES MATTER. Reminding us to go on when it hurts and keep trying through the pain.

Promise...you were never just a dog...you were an angel in disguise.
Thank you for reminding us, reminding ME, why rescue is so important. Fly High and Zoomie Fast.
