We have worked with Rural Area Veterinary Services - RAVS for decades and will be hosting them again next July for a clinic. We have had a few local community members volunteer with them in the past and we think it would be great if more of our students and young people choose veterinary medicine as a career path. RAVS clinics are a great learning experience and they have a travel scholarship to help cover the cost of volunteering with them! The aim of the scholarship is to expand access to field clinic opportunities for volunteers who bring an underrepresented perspective to the field and those who may have financial or other barriers to participation. The scholarship is open to credentialed veterinary technicians, veterinary assistants and currently enrolled veterinary and veterinary technician students participating in a RAVS field clinic in 2024.

Vaccination is the best step you can take to protect your animals 🐾❤

We also offer other vaccines for cats and dogs along with deworming and flea/tick prevention - call the shelter for details.

‼️ Reminder - We offer distemper/parvo vaccines for free at the shelter Monday - Thursday 1-3pm ‼️

Canine Distemper Virus and Parvovirus, commonly called ‘distemper’ and ‘parvo’, are viruses that can make puppies and dogs very sick. Some dogs will survive distemper and parvovirus with supportive care but unfortunately some dogs and puppies that become sick will die. Proper vaccination and keeping sick dogs away from healthy dogs and puppies is the best way to prevent distemper, parvo and many other infections.

Distemper and parvo are not contagious to humans but are VERY contagious to puppies and dogs who are not vaccinated. Vaccination is the best step you can take to try to protect your animals 🐾❤
