We have babies on the way! Oakley & Westley had a date July 4th. We just confirmed pregnancy via ultrasound & the puppies are due about September 2nd - 5th with puppies ready to go home beginning of November. We cannot tell a specific number of pups on an ultrasound, but we are excited to find out at the birth!
We will be posting on the page with updates & an announcement when the babies arrive!

Note: this litter is reserved by our current waitlist. Very excited for these babies & the families who have been waiting to meet them❤️.

Meet Oakley a future mama here at Oregon Bernese! This sweet girl is calm & laid back with an amazing temperament. She is very kind & affectionate to everyone including kids & puppies. She enjoys snuggling with us & going on hikes. I absolutely love her smile & her happy expression when someone comes to say hi❤️. Oakley has a medium length soft shiny coat & weighs 73 lbs.

Her health clearances are:
Pennhip score - Excellent, well above breed average: DI 0.37.
No radiographic evidence of Osteoarthritis for either hip.

After interviewing familjes we found Gus’s perfect match with the Oregon Bernese family who has Maui. His big brothers Maui the Berner & Nova the Samoyed are already obsessed with him & following him around everywhere. I miss having him here already but his family has sent tons of photos & he is going to be so loved and spoiled with them❤️. I will get to see him lots in the future since he will be a dad here. Excited to keep watching him grow! .

Winston (previously Shawn) is living his best life up in Alaska. I think his brother Gus is definitely jealous of the cooler weather up there🤣.
He is becoming best friends with his older sister Bellamy (from Stella’s first litter last year). She wasn’t sure what to think of him at first but now they are best buds❤️. .

I wanted to introduce everyone to Roxie a future mama here! This girl is a total sweetheart and the best family dog. She adores the kids in her guardian family & is such a gentle & caring girl with them. If you love to snuggle she is your girl. Her smile is contagious :)
Roxie has great conformation, a beautiful thick coat & weighs 66 lbs. She is thriving in her guardian home & we hope to have her first litter of puppies at the end of this year/beginning of next year depending on her heat cycle.

Roxie just had some of her health testing & the rest will be completed prior to breeding.
PennHip : DI 0.43 = No Radiographic evidence of hip dysplasia for either hip.

Pam flew to her new family in California yesterday. She was such a brave girl & handled the flight so well! She is such a sweet gentle girl & is going to be missed! They said she is already catching onto her new potty routine well & adjusting to her new family. Excited to watch this sweet girl continue to grow up & feel blessed that she went to such an amazing home❤️.

I have a rare opportunity for a male guardian home within 30 minutes of Eagle Creek Oregon. Klaus (previously Gus) is a beautiful boy born & raised here with me from two amazing parents who have European bloodlines. He brings out the best qualities of both parents & he is a stunning representation of the breed. I fell in love with Klaus & after careful evaluation and health testing I have decided to keep him to be a future dad for our program… I am so excited as he has the temperament, conformation & health that I strive towards here at Oregon Bernese.

Klaus is a ton of fun & a ball of love & enthusiasm. He adores kids & plays super well with them… I had kids draping toys over him & dressing him up this weekend and he loved every minute of it. He is medium energy at this age at least so he would do well in a home with another playful dog or at least with kiddos who will be around to play with him lots. He is very well socialized, has a good start on potty training & is extremely good motivated. Plays very well with other dogs & loves everyone he meets.

Here at Oregon Bernese I have guardian homes which give my adult dogs their own loving families who they live with other than when they come for a few days at a time for breeding. This gives families who may not otherwise be able to find or afford a extremley high quality & well-trained dog a chance to welcome one into their family at no cost to them in exchange for the dog being a sire for the program for a 4 years. When a dog retires, they will stay with their guardian family for life.

Guardian homes for boys are a bit different than for girls: much shorter times away from their families (just a few days at a time or sometimes they can be just gone for an hour or two for breeding if you live locally enough) but more frequently in the year.

It would be amazing to find a family who is passionate about Berners & excited to have a boy that will be helping preserve this beautiful breed. I know the more frequent need for him could be inconvenient, but it would be to help create some beautiful pups and his family would be welcome to come meet & socialize the babies & feel involved in helping create some amazing puppies!

I took Shawn to the airport this morning to fly home with his mama to his family in Alaska. He gets to grow up there his older “sister” Bellamy who they adopted from us last summer.
He was such a good boy on the flight and the crew and passengers give him lots of extra attention and love.
It was hard to say goodbye but I am so excited to watch him grow up in such a perfect state for a Berner! His family is amazing & has already sent me updates on his safe arrival & meeting the rest of the family❤️.

We are looking for the perfect home for sweet Pearl who recently joined our program. She is looking for a guardian family starting sometime between this weekend & next weekend if possible. She will only be doing one litter before retirement so guardianship would be about 9-14 months.
Pearl is a very affectionate girl and loves to be with her people❤️. She gets along great with other dogs and people, I don’t think she has a mean bone in her body. She is very sweet and goofy in an endearing way… very go-with the flow & happy. She always wants to follow me around the house while I do chores & “help” by keeping me company. She has been around kids a lot and is a very gentle girl. She would enjoy being in a home where she gets to be with people a lot. We are working on potty training with the babies starting with having a designated cozy “nest” area for them to sleep. They naturally are inclined to go potty away from where they sleep so it begins to teach them where to go potty. Exciting news about the x-ray : the vet sees approximately 11 puppies in there! This is not a perfect count just an estimate as it is hard to differentiate between so many little skeletons in there so it could be a pup or two off in either direction but I am excited to be able to give the families on her litter list & hopefully a family or two from the main waitlist! We are working on basic manding with the puppies. We wait for them to sit or stand quietly before rewarding them with a treat. This helps them learn that being polite & not jumping on people is when they receive praise & attention. We took the puppies on their first car ride - 5 minutes away to get coffee & back. They are too little to be in public so they stayed in the safety of the truck but said hi to the baristas through the window.
