This weekend wasn’t an easy one, but it sure makes me smile seeing these girls quietly munching on their alfalfa after this mornings milking. Today is a new day….

Farm life is not an easy life, nor is it for the faint of heart. There is a lot of blood, sweat, and tears. Happy moments are sometimes followed by sadness, and expected new beginning are sometimes are not meant to be. Today we were humbled with how fragile life can be, pulling a dead calf to save one of our mamas. You can not predict when things will turn south, but when it does, it sure makes you appreciate the support of others and the knowledge gained from past experiences. Life is hard, loss is hard, but it’s one day at at a time. Tomorrow is a new day, new adventure, and we will still keep fighting to endure our farm life. ❤️

Huge shout out to the Twisted Oak Members Milkshed Vendors!! Roundabout Farmette Bakery has some amazing scones, mini loaf bread, cinnamon swirl and smore puffed pastries. Farm fresh eggs supplied by Whirlygig Farm and Wholesome Hen and bakery. Jacked Jelly has an assortment of Jams and infused cooking oils. Vital Pines Botanicals has oil of oregano, salves, and body oils. Owl and Kestral Soaps has a fresh assortment of natural soaps. All available this weekend! Members milk shed is open daily from 10am-6pm, stop on by, grab some goodies, and say hi to the staff!

Moo-Cow appreciation weekend starts today at the farm. The staff will be down at the lower pasture until 3pm looking to say hello when you stop by and gooble up any treats that you want to bring. Carrots, apples cut or broken in half, old bread. Just be mindful of the white hot wire. 😜 Also, enjoy the benefits of a classically trained chef - Reagan has whipped up a Mango, Lemon, Blueberry yogurt. Stocked and ready to enjoy!

The members milkshed is getting a few more additions. Pepper Jelly and Everything bagel Fromage. Strawberry whipped cream cheese along with strawberries and cream Greek yogurt. Fresh Brie is making an appearance in addition to Fontina, Just Rum Appenzeller, and Farmstead Yellow Cheddar. So many choices!!! Which one will you choose?

The Rustic Rosemary Garlic Cheddar has emerged from the cheese cave and is now available in the Members Milk Shed. This aromatic cheddar has the perfect amount of herb to garlic ratio and would make for a killer grilled cheese.

Big day on the farm. Gracie is starting her dry off procedures to begin to prepare for her May calving. The bacon is stocked at the members milk shed. We have Natural, Pepper, and Twisted Oaks Special Blend. Three cheeses were also released from the Cheese Cave today; Gruyère, Chimichurri Gouda, and a Chimichurri Guido. 🧀

Yes it is!
Twisted Oak has partnered with Mt. Hood Brewing Co. for nearly 10 years by taking the Spent Grain left over from the brewing process and feeding it to our livestock. Not only does this save thousands of pounds of waste every year for the brewery, it gives our animals a protein and nutrient rich food.

So the moral of the story is: Drink beer from Mt Hood Brewing and support Twisted Oak Farm!
