Here’s my favorite resources to ensure your dog goes bite free this holiday season!
-If it’s not going to be a positive experience for you or your dog, put them away. I like to do this during meal times, during loud and busy parties, when there’s a lot of little kids who don’t know dog manners, or during gifts.
-Get super familiar with your dogs body language this will allow you to step in when your dogs uncomfortable before they feel like they need to use their teeth. Bites hardly happen out of the blue, our dogs give plenty of warning before it’s our job to get familiar with those cues before the situation escalates. I love the book Doggy Language by Lilli Chin it gives a solid break down of dogs body language in a very simple way.
-Follow @familypawsofficial for advice/guidance on success stations for your dog. They have LOADS of free resources easily accessible on their Instagram & website.
-Practice your dogs obedience BEFORE you have all the guests over. Your dog is going to struggle trying to learn new skills during the holiday chaos so build that foundation ahead of time.
I myself have had to deal with the horror of a holiday bite and it really is a downer to the holiday season. Learn from my mistakes and keep your dog and the people around them stress free this year!

Is your puppy getting enough sleep? Most owners are t aware their puppy needs a substantial amount of sleep for mood regulation as well as proper brain development. Because dogs are dogs we don’t always remember they need us to in a way parent them and not all dogs- puppies especially know how to regulate them selves and give themselves the sleep that they need. Which is where crate training and tethering become a HUGE HELP. Most owners first response is to work the dog more but it’s causing a reverse effect and increasing the puppies mouthing and hyper activity. There are so many recommendations on how a puppies day should look. My preference on a puppy schedule is, if you can’t watch them/work them, crate or tether them. This is the best way to ensure your puppy is getting the rest they need. #puppy #puppylife #puppygram #puppytip #puppytrainingtips #puppysleep #sleeptraining #cratetraining #teething #puppybite #tethering #braindevelopment

Imma be honest yall! I HATE dog parks, but i know they will continue to be built and people will continue to use them! The least i can do is theow some education your way and hope you implement it the next time you go! 1- leave your toys and treats at home! Your dog may not mind sharing but i promise you there will be another dog that is not going to want to take turns. Treats and toys and the TOP things dogs respurce guard i recommend avoiding all together, if you want to train or play with the chuck it go to a regular park or hangout outside of the dog park. A toy is not worth an injury. Your dogs there for the digs anyways.2- Avoid standing all stiff with your arms crossed. This can set your dog into defense mode or cause them to respurce guard you. This may not apply to all dogs but ove seen it far to many times. Keep loose and keep moving.3- Learn basic dog body language. Step in if your dogs being a bully or getting bullied beforw it escalates. There are 99.9% of the time signs before fight breaks out! That sh*t can be prevented. Doggy language by lili chin is a great resource!4- DO NOT bring your undersocailized/reactive dog to the dog park to geth them socialized. Youre going to set them uo for failure! Instead find a reputable trainer who can help you safely socialize your dog. PRO TIP- if your dogs not playing with the dogs at the dog park ir just doesnt look like they enjoy it, they PROBABLY DONT. Its okay to have a dog that prefers interactions with soecific dogs or would rather play with you! #playistheway #playwithyourdog #dogtraining #dogtrainingtips #confident #utah #utahdogtrainer #freetraining #dogtrainingutah #girldogtrainer #dogpark #dogparksafetypractices #dogparksafetytips
