How does one evaluate their life's work?
Their contributions?
Their mark on this place and time?
I know for me I have spent too much of my life grading my success by how much money I never made. For whatever reason I have put more emphasis on a dollar figure then on all the other far more important achievements I strived for and earned.
When I was 9 years old my Mom signed me up for riding lessons. She said she always wanted to ride horses but her family could never offer that to her.
Little did she know what she started.
Horses have been in my life since then. And because I am the most blessed person ever I met Deb Rhode who gave me a job as her trainer. Then I met my husband Butch 25 years ago who built me GNRC that made my life long dream come true. My own training facility.
Yesterday Jordyn Danke and Brooke Liebenstein gave me a scrapbook filled with pictures, letters and memories that fill my heart with love, pride in all of you.
You all make me so proud.
My life's accomplishments are so clear when I turn the pages of the years gone by.
I cannot thank your parents enough for letting me have such a huge amount of time with all of you. With the major topic of everyday being work and then more work, I often wondered why you all kept coming back day after day after day.
But then of course it was because of the greatest gift we all got to share in. HORSES. And I have always loved each and every one of them. Naughty or nice, dense or tricky. We have had them all!!
Thank you girls for all the heartfelt words and for all the memories. Together we have been through so much together. I hope to have many more years with many generations of new GNRC riders coming up the ranks. All who will take away a little piece of GNRC in their hearts.
How does one measure worth of their contributions?
I can measure mine by what all of you go out an accomplish, and achieve in your lives.
And remember, it's not about money. It's about so, so much more than that.
