Hi everyone, I have something fun I would like to share!

I like to think of myself as a “multipreneur.” I’ve started several businesses over the years and am still involved in each one. After being diagnosed with ADHD, a lot of my approach to work started to make sense! I tend to get really into one business for a while, then shift my focus to another, keeping things fresh and exciting. I just move between them as my interest flows, and it works for me. It’s been a fun journey, and along the way, I’ve come to really appreciate the value of having multiple streams of income!

Currently my businesses include:
🎀 Handmade Pet Accessory Boutique
🐾 Pet Sitting
✈️ Travel Agency
And now…
🕯️ Scentsy Consultant!

I joined Scentsy because I thought it would be a fun way to share things I genuinely enjoy, and if I’m honest, create another stream of income. I’ve always loved candles, and anyone who knows me knows I’m a huge Disney fan! So when I saw Scentsy’s wax melts and their partnership with Disney and Harry Potter, it felt like a perfect fit. Wether you are looking for gifts for holidays and special occasions, or simply want to add some fun scents to your home, I’m here to help! If you would like to order anything through me you can click my shop link in the comments. Thank you!

Study: Metal bowls have MORE dangerous bacteria⚠️ than plastic! 🤯

Pet food and water bowls can transmit bacteria, according to research, and while 67% of owners use metal bowls, only about 1/3 of people wash the bowl after a meal, and some only dry wipe, which is how the bacteria party gets started 🤢. And that slippery film in the water bowl after 24 hours? That’s a brew of bacteria🦠 that can be transferred from your dog to you and your family.

The amount of moisture in the food also matters. Wet food (compared to dry) was associated with higher bacteria - and higher humidity levels are likely to create perfect conditions for bacterial growth, especially after coming in contact with dog saliva left in the bowl.

In our new book, The Forever Dog LIFE, we lay out the pro’s and con’s of different types of bowls. Here’s a glimpse of what you need to know:

Plastic🥣: Chemicals in plastic absorb through the skin and inhibit the synthesis of melanin, which can cause Plastic Dish Nasal Dermatitis that leaves your pet’s nose & lips, pink and irritated.

Ceramic:🫖 Hartpury scientists found the most harmful bacterial species (salmonella, E.coli and MRSA) were most frequently found in ceramic bowls because of people continuing to use them after fine cracks in the glaze become visible.

Stainless steel🥄: cheaper quality bowls have been involved in recalls due to heavy metal contamination. Be sure to buy high-quality bowls (18/8 or 304 steel) from a trusted source.

Glass🥛: Durable, kitchen-friendly glass bowls made from 100% borosilicate glass (Pyrex) make great food and water bowls on the floor.

🧼No matter which type of bowl you use, the best thing you can do to protect you and your dog’s health is to wash your bowl after every meal with hot water and soap. In addition, at least once a week, run your bowls through the hot cycle in your dishwasher. You can also coat the bowl with hydrogen peroxide, wait five minutes, then wipe with a clean sponge and rinse.

For more info on bowls, Comment and we’ll message you the link to The Forever Dog LIFE book where in part one titled The Forever Kitchen and the section labelled “Food & Water Bowls", we cover how to choose the best chemical-free bowls🌱 that won’t leach contaminants⚠️ over time.

As any pro pet sitter or dog walker will tell you, running a pet-care business is NO JOKE!

Here at PSI, we always say that pet sitting isn’t for the faint of heart🖤—and on a day that typically focuses on jokes, we want to stop and thank professional pet sitters and dog walkers for the serious work they do!

⭐For any who have ever wondered, “Is pet sitting (or dog walking) a real job?” The answer is ABSOLUTELY.✔

👉Professional pet sitters and dog walkers are small-business owners—vital contributors to their communities and local economy.

👉They have a business license (where required), pay taxes, are insured, bonded, and trained in pet care and pet first aid.

👉They work year-round to ensure pet parents can have the peace of mind offered by quality, reliable pet care when long work hours or travel keep them from their beloved pets.

⭐Being a professional pet-sitting or dog-walking business owner is more than dog walks and cat cuddles.

👉Ask any professional pet sitter who has missed holidays with their families, extended pet-sitting visits to ensure an ailing pet was comforted or felt the loss of a client’s pet passing.

👉Or better yet, ask one of the hundreds of thousands of pet parents who benefit from the services of professional pet sitters and dog walkers every year.

👉Ask the pet owner who was alerted by his professional pet sitter that his dog’s behavior was unusual and recommended an emergency vet visit—saving the dog from dying from canine bloat.

👉Ask the pet parent who was able to call her pet sitter at 2 a.m. when she learns that her mother—on the other side of the country—has been admitted to the hospital in critical condition and is able to secure pet care as she rushes to the airport.

👉Ask the family whose professional pet sitter has graciously agreed to sit with them as their 15-year-old cat with late-stage chronic renal failure has to be euthanized.

Spend a day with a pro pet sitter or dog walker and you’ll know what those of us at PSI know without question:

♥Pet sitting is no joke! It’s a career…a lifestyle…a passion.♥

THANK YOU to the pet sitters and dog walkers making the world a better place for pets and their people!

A hot topic of discussion in PSI's private Facebook group yesterday was what—if anything—pet sitters and dog walkers should do to prepare for the April 8 total solar eclipse.

So, we've republished (and updated) our blog post offering solar eclipse tips that was originally written before the August 2017 total eclipse.

😴 𝐁𝐎𝐑𝐄𝐃𝐎𝐌
Dogs are naturally curious and active creatures. Combat boredom by incorporating the three E's into your routine: Exercise, Enrichment, and Entertainment. A daily walk, engaging puzzle toys, and socialization can keep your dog content and less likely to seek adventure beyond the yard.

🥩 𝐂𝐇𝐀𝐒𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐏𝐑𝐄𝐘
Managing dogs with a heightened prey drive poses unique challenges. To prevent spontaneous pursuits of squirrels or other small creatures, it's essential to utilize both a double collar and harness when your dog is outdoors. Regardless of your dog's natural instincts, implementing additional precautions safeguards their well-being and ensures the safety of local wildlife.

❤️ 𝐑𝐄𝐏𝐑𝐎𝐃𝐔𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐎𝐍
Dogs may be triggered to roam due to various reasons, from prey drive to reproductive instincts. Monitor your dog in the yard, secure fences, and consider spaying or neutering to minimize the chances of a runaway situation. Additionally, be cautious about letting your dog roam unsupervised if you choose to delay the spaying/neutering process.

🚪 𝐈𝐓’𝐒 𝐓𝐎𝐎 𝐄𝐀𝐒𝐘
Dogs may exploit easy escape routes if given the chance. Ensure windows have pet-proof screens, gates are intact, and doors are secure. Supervise your dog in the yard and regularly check for any vulnerabilities in the fencing. Prevention is key to keeping your furry friend close.

😰 𝐅𝐑𝐈𝐆𝐇𝐓𝐄𝐍𝐄𝐃
Scary sounds and sights, especially during festivities or unexpected events, can prompt a frightened dog to run. Whether it's fireworks or thunderstorms, take precautions. Use well-fitted collars and leashes, work on recall training, and create a safe indoor space during stressful times to ensure your dog stays close and secure.

As much as dogs display curiosity, they are equally social beings that delight in staying close to their human companions. With some proactive planning and preventive measures, you can ensure your dog's safety within the confines of your home.
