Another dressage clinic series has begun. Although it’s hard to do this without Vera Kessels, it’s gratifying that our very first clinic with Todd Bryan has sold out and then some with still 5 weeks to go. June 20-22 we are hosting 25 rides from at least 12 pairs at our farm in East Aurora. Stay tuned for the rest of the dates this summer and fall (monthly so we have regular instruction, homework and feedback), for pictures and pointers and information on Todd. We are delighted to find someone who can commit to this very regular training program and advance our partnerships with these very special creatures! Auditors are always welcome. June 20 4-7 pm, June 21 and 22, 9 am-5 pm, potluck dinner Saturday for riders and auditors. Pictured here is my special horse Limoncello in Florida trying to open his door (of course). See you soon.

Steve and I are very touched by everyone’s comments about our lovely Foxie. We really appreciate the extent of her reach and your comforting words. We had little warning but the good news is she did not suffer.

RIP Our Beloved Foxie
Sep 29, 2013 - Mar 3, 2025

We are deeply saddened but the death of our incredible dog Foxie. She was loved by all who visited our farm. Early in her life she took on the role of farm greeter. She knew every car before it even hit the driveway and greeted each and every one with great enthusiasm and the offer of a few kisses. Dog owners got extra affection. She developed into an incredibly intuitive and smart dog with a vocabulary of many words and a bark command to open doors. She often carried her food dish to anyone she could find to remind them it was chow time. She learned how to keep horses in their stalls from a French bull dog as a puppy. If a horse peeked out or was behind a stall guard she made sure they stayed in their spot. She noticed everything including being the first to alert to a fire across the street, so we could call the fire department. Over the last two years she was the auntie to our young puppy Tug. She loved showing him her favorite tricks and snack opportunities on the farm and play routines. She will be sorely missed by all.

Well so far this winter is living up to its snowy predictions. With three winter storms in two weeks, we seem to be adapting to the extra work of getting horses in and out, getting the gator stuck, getting additional hay and heat to the ponies, planning our rides so they take place during the warmest hours rather than first thing when it’s 5 degrees, getting much better at lunging, checking the arena roof for the next big slide and eating lots of soups, pasta and hot drinks. I’ve been mainly riding the couch following knee surgery last week, but wanted to share one of the horse’s videos as they also adapt. I also want to thank the team that is helping us get through this: Kristen Kaminski, Scott Pulaski, , Bethany Malcolm and of course our understanding clients.

This has been a year that has not been as planned but i decided to make lemonade out of lemons. I have been sidelined by injuries so Limoncello got to go to "camp" with Alex Robertson. After qualifying for regionals at both PSG and I1, he wound up in the medals in both events in Region 1. Way to go Alex and Limoncello!
