For our clients traveling to Canada and other low risk rabies countries. The CDC has once again changed the rules to get dogs back into the US. You no longer are required to obtain a USDA certified rabies form. You will still need to go online to fill out a form l, but this can be done yourself and does not require additional fees. Please see the attached website for the most current information. Thank you for your patience as unfortunately this has been a whirlwind of changing last minute regulations.

This is an important reminder about the dangers of Xylitol. It is also marketed as Birch sugar, Birch bark extract, or wood sugar. The use of Xylitol is expanding as it is in some ice creams, peanut butter, marshmallow, and over the counter medications such as anti-histamines. Please make sure to read labels and contact our knowledgeable staff with any questions or concerns.

Calling all Cairn Terriers!! We are looking for a few more Cairn Terriers to reach our first enrollment threshold!

We are currently recruiting for a study on the genetic basis of ocular melanosis in Cairn Terriers.
Our criteria includes:
• Purebred Cairn Terriers of any age diagnosed with ocular melanosis
• Purebred Cairn Terriers 12 years or older with no diagnosis of ocular melanosis

If you or someone you know has a Cairn Terrier in the US that fits the above criteria, we can work with you to enroll them in our study! We can recruit both local and non-local dogs at this time, so coming to UW Madison is not necessary. If non-local, we can confirm disease status from owner- or veterinarian- submitted photographs.

Thank you to all who are considering! We are grateful for your support.

Please contact us by email at [email protected] if you are interested in participating. We look forward to hearing from you!

🐻🐻🐻Please be Advised 🐻🐻🐻

We did not get a new comfort bear to join the police department but a black bear has made its way into East Bridgewater and has been seen in the Spring Street area closer to Route 18. We are asking that people please let the bear be. Do not go looking for it, approach it, etc. If you see the bear, do not share it’s exact location publicly per Mass. Wildlife, just let the bear roam.

We strongly suggest people bring in any Bird feeders and utilize etectric fencing for any livestock and fowl.

Be very vigilant if you are outside working in your yard and especially when letting pets out. If you have an interaction, please take the advice of the state: "Black bears are usually wary of people. Normal trail noise will alert bears to your presence and they will often disappear before you see them. If you see a bear, it may not immediately recognize you as a human and may be curious until it scents you. Make the animal aware of your presence by clapping, talking, or making other sounds while slowly backing away. Do not approach bears or intrude between a female bear and her cubs. Keep dogs leashed and stay a respectful distance away."

Thank you for your cooperation. Please call the station with any questions 508-378-7223 press 0.
