Really enjoyed painting this sunnie the other day. I always like a good challenge and these fish are about as technical as they come. Tried some new techniques too, never stop learning. Before and after gloss ☀️🐟

Pt. 2- A few quick snaps of the goldfish I was painting today. Not a huge fan of super glossy fish, but I’m excited to see this one pop once it’s sealed. Customer requested an arrow through it, and I’ve learned the hard way to drill the hole before paint… 🏹

Long post, but I’m finally getting around to posting this.
I’ve been extremely blessed and thankful for this year’s competitions. There isn’t a better feeling in the world than seeing hard work pay off. A lot of my friends and family know how much time I’ve put into my pieces, always working towards my goal of state champ, and this year I finally got it.
Special thank you to everyone that has helped me and been by my side throughout my career and journey. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me and The Fish Studio.
To my friends, fellow competitors, and MTA, I am in constant awe of the amazing work you all do and the sheer talent that is shown every single year. None of this would be possible without our incredible association and all of the hard work that goes into putting on a great show.

Finally getting around to making this post- by far one of my proudest achievements and coolest pieces I’ve done so far in my career. I’ve had the pleasure of custom casting the new Michigan bowfishing state record Goldfish that was shot early spring. 20” length, 21” girth, 9.4lbs. Final pics glossed and WIP.

About 90% of the way finished with this guy, have to go back through and scale tip the rest of the way. Final product pics to come, but in the meantime check out this timelapse and watch it come to life 🙌

It’s all about layers… And when you think you’ve layered enough, put some more on. Laid down a “rough draft” of where I want the markings to be and now I’m going back over it for the final look. After this, I’m going to add some more colors down and of course, layer.
