dental exam, an acupuncture treatment or just about anything in between, we’re prepared to meet all of your animal health care needs throughout the life of your pet. Our hospital is made complete with a team of veterinary professionals who share the same goal of consistently providing the best possible care to each patient we serve. We are passionate about what we do and truly enjoy working with each other. Most of all, we love sharing the joy of taking care of people and their pets. We understand how special your animal companion is to you, because each one of us has at least one cherished pet with whom we share our lives. It is this special bond we share with our own pets that allows us to treat our patients with the utmost care and compassion. Our facility has been specially designed to make our clients and the pets that they love feel comfortable and right at home. From a warm, welcoming reception area to spacious, modern exam rooms with windows for plenty of natural light. Owners are encouraged to stay with their pets all the time, with the exception of surgical procedures and x-rays. Our medium to large canine patients are treated right on the floor, on a carpet that gives them traction and allows them to maintain a natural posture and position. Smaller dogs and cats are treated on a table that has soft, slip resistant covering. Treats are given during and after exam – as long as Mom or Dad okays, of course!

East Haven Veterinary Service is seeking a passionate, dedicated, and skilled Veterinary Technician to join our team.
Our full-service companion animal hospital operates as a single-doctor practice in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont focusing on the delivery of compassionate care in the realms of medicine, surgery, and wellness. The ideal candidate should be hard working, compassionate, client oriented, and a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities:
* Provide compassionate care under the supervision of our veterinarian.
* Employ high-level technical skills in surgeries, dental procedures, examinations and treatments.
* Participate in comprehensive diagnostic evaluations.
* Provide the highest level of balanced anesthesia, anesthesia recovery and analgesia.
* Maintain accurate medical records and ensure proper documentation.

Qualifications:
* Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in Vermont.
* Companion animal experience preferred.
* Strong knowledge of veterinary medical practices and procedures.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

A good reminder…

Do not give hydrogen peroxide to cats!
The internet can be full of misinformation, and whether or not hydrogen peroxide can be given to cats is unfortunately, a topic that can lead to deadly consequences. There is no safe or effective way to make our feline friends vomit at home, that includes using hydrogen peroxide. In fact, using something like hydrogen peroxide can cause significant injury to a cat’s gastrointestinal system, potentially causing more damage than the original issue. Cats are extremely sensitive to the gastric irritant effects of hydrogen peroxide and giving any amount by mouth can have severe negative effects that can lead to death. If your pet ingested something you are concerned may be toxic, call your veterinarian or Pet Poison Helpline right away before attempting to perform any treatments at home.

Despite widespread road closures in our area due to last night's flash flooding, Rte 114 near East Haven Veterinary Service is open, as is the village of East Haven. There is a small section between the two School Street signs where the road damage has traffic down to one lane so please be cautious in that area. Wishing everyone safe travels!

Heartworm Disease

Heartworm disease IS real, and we are seeing more cases in our area. This is a video of an active heartworm in the blood of one of our own patients. We recommend yearly heartworm testing and the use of preventatives. Please call with any questions! We would rather prevent than treat! -The EHVS Team
