Lobo is a 6 year old German Shepherd mix who loves long walks, rolling in tall grass, and hanging out with his humans!

He arrived at an Orange County shelter in April 2022 as a stray. He was an instant hit with the staff and volunteers as everyone who meets him falls in love with his goofy personality.

His personality is super chill, easy going & an all around good dog. He is easy to walk and loves if you stop to let him roll around on the ground and scratch his back every once in a while.

Sadly his time at the shelter was up last month but he was rescued at the last minute by We Rescue 4 Pawz! 🐾🐾

Lobo should be the only dog in a household with no cats. He is neutered and great with adults. He will make a great best friend in his new forever home.

Say hello to our Pet of the Week, Alex!

Alex is an almost 2-year-old Anatol Shepherd Mix who arrived at OC Animal Care as a stray. Alex enjoys taking the proper time to get to know someone but, once he’s labeled you as one of his best friends, you’ve made a friend for life! Alex is an avid fetch player and loves running around the play yard with a tennis ball in his mouth! When Alex wants to take a break from chasing toys or tennis balls, he LOVES to roll around on the grass! This silly boy knows how to have fun, and his happy personality is sure to cheer you up whenever you need it! Alex is very smart and loves treats, so we know he’d enjoy learning some fun new tricks with his human friends! He already knows how to sit very well on cue, and we even think he’s potty trained! There is no better blessing then giving a senior dog a home

This , we wanted to showcase one of our sweet senior pups, Yolanda!

Yolanda may be 10 years old, but she has the s***k of a younger dog! Yolanda is the epidemy of love with her desire to be near as many people as she can at all times! Though she is a bigger dog, Yolanda is apart of our small dog playgroup and does so well with all of the littles! She isn’t super interested in playing with the other pups, she mostly uses her time in playgroup going from volunteer to volunteer, getting back scratches and giving plenty of kisses. Yolanda has experienced a few seizures in her life, but our Veterinary Staff is monitoring her closely and treating her condition as needed. While she may have a few medical issues related to being a senior pup, she is as sweet as can be and will make the very best couch snuggle buddy to whoever is lucky enough to adopt her!

Our Foster Program plays a huge part in getting many of our animals healthy and ready to be adopted into furr-ever homes. From newborn puppies to bottle baby kittens, our Volunteer Foster Caretakers give around-the-clock care to animals that may need a little extra TLC before they can be adopted.

It’s and today we want to introduce Heath! This handsome boy is a 5-year-old Alaskan Malamute who had quite the transformation while being at our facility!

Heath arrived at OC Animal Care as a stray back in November and, while his attitude was happy and cheerful to everyone he met, our staff quickly noticed that his undercoat was severely matted, all the way down to his skin. It was likely that Heath was extremely uncomfortable. While it’s not usually common to fully shave a dog with fur like Heath’s, it was ultimately determined that Heath’s skin would be able to heal better with a full shave. With the expert help of our volunteer groomer, a lot of fur and an aloe bath later, Heath’s skin is looking great! We already think he looks very handsome with his new haircut, but we know he’s going to be a sight for sore eyes once his fur grows back in and is regularly brushed! Our staff and volunteers have made sure to give Heath extra blankets in addition to the heated floors of the kennels so he can be cozy and snug while his fur grows back. Heath has become a staff and volunteer favorite due to his infectiously happy personality and his love of playing fetch, and we can’t wait to see what lucky family will get to adopt him!

It’s and we’re giving a shout out to our pal Hugo! Hugo is 83 pounds of pure joy and loves nothing more than to be around humans all day long! Hugo was brought to OC Animal Care in October when our Field Team found him wandering around the streets alone. Our staff and volunteers quickly fell in love with his goofy personality and cheerful attitude, and it’s impossible to resist those sweet puppy dog eyes! Hugo can always be seen with a large grin on his face, and he loves everything from toys to belly rubs! This handsome boy is almost 2 years old and loves treats so much that we think he would be the perfect candidate to learn some new behaviors with you during training (though we already think he’s potty trained!). This sweet Pit Bull pup would be happy to go on a nice walk or hike, then cuddle on the couch next to you with a good toy…anything to be around his best human friends!

Our friends at Nature Select recently stopped by with a special delivery – Christmas toys for all of the dogs! Check out their Facebook (Nature's Select Pet Food) to see April get the zoomies, Violet get some snuggles (and a new sloth toy friend), Thor become obsessed with his new Christmas dinosaur, and all of the dog’s reactions! Thor, here, loves his new Christmas dinosaur so much, he carries it with him on all of his walks! Thank you Nature Select for helping us give our animals a very happy holiday season!
