Joanne's Ark Rescue We are a 501(c)3 non-profit dog rescue located in East Leroy, Michigan serving Calhoun County My goal is to change this. They did not ask to be born.

Mission Statement: To save, nurture, love and place in nothing less than the perfect home. So many dogs are dropped off in the middle of nowhere, starving, injured or just neglected with no human contact or love. Every dog deserves love and attention, medical treatment when needed, a warm home to sleep, and socialization. But even more importantly, the only way to lessen the number of dogs in she

lters every year that are euthanized because there are not enough homes is to spay and neuter. No dog leaves my rescue without being spayed or neutered. All are also vaccinated and heartworm tested. All they want is to be loved and cared for. In return they will love you unconditionally for as long as they can.

Three things we are really going through right now. The 5 kittens we have are all still needing kitten milk as they are under 8 weeks. Two of the kittens weigh just .72 and .80 so they are really drinking this up. Pre mixed only to avoid an even bigger mess than we are already cleaning up each day. And the litter! I had stocked up but they are going through it quickly. Naturally Fresh is the only kind we can use due to asthma. It doesn't have to be Lavender. Paper Towels. We are currently using a roll each day or two. Kittens are alot of work but we are honored to be able to help them.

Why is Sparkle still here? I mean come on. She's about a 20 pound Cocker Spaniel! I can tell you why. Apparently no one wants a dog who is terrified of men. And I took her outside a couple weeks ago to meet someone. We were only out there for about a minute or two. She trembled in fear the entire time. Trauma dogs take a long time to recover but once they do, they are the best dogs ever. It took Mollie a full year to recover. It took Jessie about 10 months. Patience and love is all it takes. I know there is someone out there that is perfect for this dog.

Our beautiful Dharma spent the entire day at the vet. She has had a great health check, xrays and bloodwork. All the ticks have been removed. Nothing too scary to report other than her going without regular food and water for so long has impacted her overall well being. She also has a flea allergy and is very itchy. Ears were full of mites. Her digestive system is a mess which is an issue alot of the rescues we take in have. She has now been dewormed and defleaed. She also received her vaccines, an antibiotic shot, a steroid shot and a B12 shot. Her combo test was negative. In 3 weeks we will get her booster shot and a dental done as 2 of her canines are broken off. She is very lucky to be alive after living outside for at least a year. Right now she weighs just under 9 pounds but we expect she will gain quite a bit of weight now that she can eat whenever she wants. Im so grateful she is here. She already looks so much better. God has Blessed you Dharma.
