The hardest part of being a Malinois is being a Malinois! She would have preferred to run up the steps, leap off the top and land halfway across the store! We had the audacity to make her do it slowly!😜Dog-town.net
Good day to get back on track with these guys. Nice warm day, nice work. Effort=Results. Dog-town.net
Quick video on some quality equipment manufacturers I'm using to outfit the new rig.
So last week this guy could not do stairs. He was terrified. He was like an octopus on rollerskates! I knew he could do it so I decided to apply some "fair pressure" and power him through. We leashed him up on a flat collar and put a second leash around his pelvis. With his owners help we took him up the stairs with slow steady motion. Using both leads to help keep him balanced and moving slowly, we went up and down the stairs a few times. We then let him have a quick break, drink and took him out for a quick walk. We then came back and went right back to the stairs, three or four more reps and he was going up and down by himself. They just sent me this video tonight. I am pleased!
Equipment change. These guys used to pull, race and criss cross when walked together. We changed from a harness and martingale to prong collars. Instant change. Used correctly, prong collars are an effective tool. The owner was able to communicate what she was looking for on the walks and the dogs fell into place and understood the new rules for walks. My job is to share my knowledge and experience with different equipment, find what works best for your situation, and teach you how to use it correctly with your dogs. This switch relieved the stress and chaos from the dogs and allowed them to walk as a team with their leader. Nice job!
Watch your fingers! Work hard, play hard.
Tonight's video: Stand out of motion. I find this the most difficult out of the sit, down, stand trio. Most likely because I use it much less than the other two. I go back to the dog and reward because I want to reinforce that standing still and solid is what gets him paid! Book your next dog training session right from my site dog-town.net
Tonight's training tip. Down out of motion. This is sloppy but you'll get the basic idea. He should drop a lot faster and not keep creeping towards me. We'll clean this up and repost in a few weeks

Great environmental session tonight with this 15 week old pup. She handled pressure with ease and displayed great coordination for a young dog.
There's a lot of environmental pressure being applied to this pup all at once. Climbing on new surface, changing heights, very loud sharp sound of the saw. Owner is calm and assertive, guiding the pup. You need to include stress and pressure in your training. Balanced training = balanced dog.
Had a great session with this guy tonight. He's starting his formal training a little later in life, but is doing very well. He handled a fair amount of stress and pressure, continuing to work well with his people. Keep it up!
