My personal horse has been rehabbing from EPM for the past few weeks. Along with bodywork to keep her loose, I have incorporated pole work to help build back the hind and topline muscles that she lost. I have also been doing specific stretches to keep her hind end limber and loose.

Had the pleasure of working on my friends lovely gelding, Eclipse, this afternoon. And as an added bonus, she is a talented, professional photographer who owns PGriffin Photography. She captured some great shots of myself working on her boy who has some great releases and enjoyed his massage. And how good does this boy look for 30?!?! 🦄

Walk poles and cavaletti’s are such simple yet important and influential tools for any horse when riding. They encourage the horse to use their whole body and engage it more that with just a walking warm up on the flat. Adding these into your warm up will help with building muscles including topline along with changing up your routine for you and your horse. 🦄

Ruby tried out her new balance blocks the past two days. It was cool to see how it makes them engage different muscles and move to find their balance.

Added a new tool into my routine today. Balance blocks!! These are a great tool to help engage the thoracic sling and work on balance. I will be using these on my own horse for this a couple minutes a day.

The thoracic sling is a super important group of muscles that support the front end of the horse. Issues in this area can show as girthy reactions, pulling them arcs with their front end instead of using the hind end, running on the forehand, falling out in the shoulder and general struggle with balance. Knowing how to strengthen and support this area is so important to any horse in any discipline. Poles work, backing your horse, hill work and making sure you have properly fitting tack all have a huge impact on this area!!

Worked on my own horse today after two weeks of Lyme treatment. Her last massage indicated to me that she was having a flair up with how sore and unhappy she was with it. We also incorporated some red light for spots I know are areas she can use some extra help. Top is before and bottom is after. Will do another session of bodywork on her in a week or so to see where she’s at!

I am doing a package deal for first time massage clients. Book 2 massages with me and get a 3rd for 30% off. Will include red light with massage. Must book all 3 within 3 month period for discount. Message me for more info!! 🦄
