It's package season!!! Put those boxes and paper to use! I throw their kibble and a few treats in there all mixed up. You can see one of them (brindle) has been doing this a while and knows how to make it easier. 😆 My dogs don't eat the paper, so don't do this if yours does! Supervise at all times, just in case.
It gives them about 10-12 minutes of fun in the morning before I feed them their fresh food.
Bonus if you have cats, they hang around waiting until feeding is over and then they sit in the boxes, or play with the paper. Two enrichments at once!

Meet Ruby!! 💖

So happy to have her as part of our daycare, she fits right in and is as sweet as they come. Small, but mighty! Plays great with my dog and cats, takes cues well, and is still just a puppy. Her family is lucky to have this little brave s***k!

She's a mix of sweet and spicy; we love her and so does Henry!

Many dog parents wonder if daycare is the right place for their pup.

It all depends on the dog. Not all dogs are appropriate for daycare, and that’s okay! You need a dog with great social skills, whose feelings don’t get hurt, and who’s confident enough to both initiate and accept offers to play.

It also depends on the daycare. Some large daycares put all the dogs together at once, and that can be very overwhelming and overstimulating for many of them. Daycare shouldn’t be the place for a dog to learn to socialize (my opinion). That should first be learned at home. Many facilities offer and encourage high impact, high energy, unrestrained access to other dogs, some of whom have no manners and may teach those behaviors to your own dog.

At Singh’s, we monitor 20-30 minutes of play at a time, followed with a break, then more play. It’s not just a free for all! Rest and relaxation are also encouraged so that the dogs who need a break, get one. Special, individualized attention for each dog. That’s the environment I was able to find for my own dog when he needs daycare, and it’s the environment I am proud to provide as well!

On rainy days like today, I feed the pups all their meals with interactive puzzle and slow feeders.
This gives your dog an extra "job" and helps tire them out mentally. All dogs need scent work, and meals are the best opportunity each day!
You can start by spreading their kibble out on a rug inside or in the grass outside so they can sniff and find it easily and learn to work for it. Try putting their food in a cardboard box with all their toys on top and watch them figure out how to move the toys to get to their food.

Then move up to puzzles and games like these! The green slow feeder/lick mat can be used with their real food (if used) and frozen for an even longer task! For a treat, freeze small amounts of plain Greek yogurt, peanut butter and banana. 😋
Snuffle mats and balls work great too!
The pinecone and Bob-a-Lot typically add 10-15 minutes to feed times for our pup. He's been using these since he was a puppy and it will differ with each dog, and definitely depends on their food drive.

Let your dogs use their nose and work for food...they're so much happier that way! 😊

***If you notice the cabbage, we get Henry one about every 2 months. He slowly shreds and eats it, another great interactive treat!
