We are the Town of Huntington's municipal animal shelter and adoption center. We are responsible for the enforcement of town codes relating to domesticated animals. We care for and shelter both misplaced and surrendered dogs. Whether you are looking for a mature pet that is already housebroken or a puppy, we will help you find one that is just right for you!

Meet Cardi! Cardi is a 1yr old Pitbull mix who came to our shelter as a stray. Cardi is happiest when she’s running around playing ball or going out on a nice long walk. Cardi is still very much a young pup who we believe did not receive the proper socialization or guidance needed for any dog. Due to this, she is looking for an experienced owner who will show her right from wrong and help her to become the best dog she can be! Cardi has passed her behavioral assessment and would need to be in a home with no other animals and children 12+. Cardi will leave the shelter fully vetted and microchipped!

Meet Bowser! He is a 3yr old Beagle mix who is looking for his new forever family! Bowser is a happy, friendly boy that has great energy! He has passed his assessments and has no issues with food or toy guarding. He plays very nice with his shelter friends and enjoys daily walks and playgroups! He would do great with an experienced dog owner, with or without another dog in the home and children 6+! Bowser will be neutered, UTD on vaccines and microchipped upon leaving.

Colton is still searching for his forever home! He was unfortunately returned by his adopter after not following up on our recommended basic obedience needs . Colton has been at our shelter for nearly a year continuing to work hard everyday on his skills!

Colton is very outgoing with his friends, however he can be independent to start. He loves to be outside laying in the sun, running around with a ball or going on long walks with his shelter buddies. He also enjoys some down time lounging around and chewing on a bone! Colton's ideal home would require him being the only animal in the home and with children 12+. Come see this sweet boy today! No appt necessary 😊

Meet Taylor! She is a 5yr old Pitbull mix who came to our shelter as a stray. Taylor is a friendly, wiggly, happy girl whose hobbies include short bursts of playing ball to long bursts of napping! From when Taylor arrived, she has been through our behavioral program for leash training. Since then, she is a pleasure to walk and enjoys long strolls around the neighborhood! Taylor has passed her behavioral assessment with no food guarding issues and minor toy guarding issues. Taylor’s looking for a single pet home with an experienced owner and children 16+. Taylor will be fully vetted and microchipped upon leaving the shelter.
