Michael grew up on Long Island competing in the Junior Hunter, Junior Jumper and Equitation divisions. After college, he turned professional and opened up his business, Lynnewood Stables, which is named after his favorite equitation horse, Lynnewood Hall. As a professional, Mike has enjoyed many successes as both a rider and a trainer in all three rings. He has had top placings from the Grand Pri

x ring to the High Performance Working Hunters, right on down to the Baby Green Hunter division and the Young Jumpers. His students have enjoyed victories from the Short Stirrup ring all the way up through the Grand Prixs. Michael approaches teaching and training with a patient and compassionate philosophy. He concentrates on building a solid foundation by instilling confidence in both horse and rider. He works with each rider to develop a plan and set goals for the future. Mike has earned the respect of his students and peers alike with his calm and workmanlike demeanor. He is a true horseman, always putting the needs of the horse before any other. What a beautiful fall weekend at Old Salem!!

Lauren Barone and Another Night jumped to the Championship in the 3’3” Amateur Hunters!

Emily Gordon and Stakkato Gold Rush had the week they’ve been working towards all summer, with a WIN in the 1.10 Amateur speed, a 4th the first day, and a strong 5th place finish in the Classic!

Lizzie Mammone and Royal Salute finished up their weekend as Reserve Champions in the 3’6” Junior Hunters!

Lily Barnard and Cantina earned top ribbons in the 3’6” AO Hunters and finished 9th in the OSF Hunter Derby!

Beth Silverstein and Coubertin jumped around the 3’ Adult Hunters and won great ribbons in every class!

Toni Lombardo and Maris VHS and Danae Oliveri and EKA Kitty Hawk finished up our weekend with consistent rounds in the 1.20 Amateur Jumper Division!

Maxine Orens-Williams and Cantero Z had a banner week earning 3rd and 4th place ribbons in the 1.0 Junior Jumpers and finishing 10th in the combined 1.05 Jr/Amateur Classic!

Katie Imperial and Union Jack are your 15-17 Children’s Hunter champions!! This is an especially sweet victory for Katie, as she is the proud new owner of Jack. Thank you Brenna Doherty for another great horse!

We took 21 horses to Saugerties weeks IV and V!! There were multiple tricolor and blue ribbons won, many lessons learned, and a lot of fun was had! Thank you to everyone who helped make the show such a success.

We have a nice group of horses looking for new jobs that are available to be tried in SAUGERTIES until 7/28

1) OZERA: 5 year old, 16.2 hand Dutch mare. This horse is a star in the making. Beautiful, classy, hack winner, and beautiful jumper. She was champion this week in her 3’ green debut. Six figures.

2) ROYAL SALUTE: 15 year old, 16.3 Holsteiner gelding. Ultimate good boy with lots of 3’ and 3’3” junior miles. Quiet and straightforward. Mid fives lease only.

3) WINEHAM: 9 year old, 16.3 AES gelding. Just imported, was jumping 1.25 with an amateur in Europe. Could double as an equitation horse. Quiet and easy. Low sixes.

4) KITTY HAWK: 9 year old, 17h Swedish mare. Jumping 1.25 Amateur classes. Could also double in the equation. Six figures.

5) MAGICAL ME: 17 year old, 12.1 1/8 Welsh pony. The sweetest kids pony! Suitable walk/trot through children’s ponies. He is truly magical! Low fives lease only.

Week 1 of Old Salem Spring brought us some highs and lows, but nevertheless we had some great results!
Emily Gordon and Stakkato Gold Rush earned the 8th spot in their 1.10 Jr/Amateur Jumper class on Friday and finished up the week with a 6th place ribbon in the 1.15 Amateur Classic on Sunday.
Danae Oliveri and EKA Kitty Hawk jumped to a 6th place ribbon in a competitive field of 1.20 Jr/Amateur Jumpers.
Both Lily Barnard and Shelby Phillips stepped up a division to the 3’6 Amateur Owner Hunters and the 1.10 Jr/Amateur Jumpers respectively, with their horses Cantina and Estrada Empire.
On to week 2!!

ROYAL SALUTE is available for lease! 2009, 16.3 Holsteiner Gelding. Salute is the ultimate good boy- brave, easy prep, stick and spur ride, and forgiving of rider mistakes. We brought two tricolor ribbons home from the Old Salem Fall I show last weekend. Lily Barnard and Cantina were champions of the 3’3 Amateur Hunter division, and Lauren Barone and Another Night were reserve champions in the Younger Adult Hunters! Congratulations ladies!!

We finished up our week in the Hamptons with the AO and Junior Hunters. Lily Barnard and Cantina had some beautiful rounds, earning them top ribbons in their competitive Amateur division! Lizzie Mammone and Royal Salute had consistent performances and won some nice ribbons, while Katiemae Sweeney joined us from North Carolina for the week and piloted Union Jack around the 3’3 Junior Hunter ring!! Thank you to Brenna Doherty for the wonderful Jack!
