🐶 𝗔𝗱𝗼𝗽𝘁 𝗠𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 • This handsome black fur boy Myers is more than ready for his forever home.
Myers was found tied up at a bus stop in the Bronx in 2018, and severely injured. His neck was torn open, and he was covered in pus.
We never found out if someone did this intentionally, but we know that Myers had suffered much physical trauma during his life.
After a while at the veterinarian’s hospital, Myers was finally out of danger. He has since beautifully healed, but his past left some marks on our handsome Myers.
As you can imagine, due to his past, Myers doesn’t like to have his neck touched, which sadly resulted in a bite incident.
Myers is a great, but misunderstood dog.
At NYBC, we believe every dog has a home waiting for them, and we know that his person is somewhere out there. Myers is not fond of other dogs and would prefer to be the only dog in the household.

❤️🩹 𝗢𝗹𝗹𝗶 • Our sweet little girl is still not feeling well, but she is feeling well enough for a hug.
What a precious little sweetheart she is.
Today, Olli had green snot, and sadly, she is still wheezing and gurgling. However, we are in touch with the veterinarian who told us that it should clear out in a few days.
Thankfully we caught the pneumonia in the nick of time.
We are still looking for a foster home for her.
Olli has Megaesophagus, and if she is fed properly in her Bailey’s chair, all will be well. Olli also needs to drink in her chair, which she can easily do, as well.
If Olli isn’t properly fed, she will regurgitate, which can lead to aspiration pneumonia.
Her diagnosis is not a death sentence, and is easily managed with her chair.

❤️🩹 𝗢𝗹𝗹𝗶 • After arriving from Florida, we noticed that our poor Olli wasn’t doing well. She was wheezing and gurgling.
We rushed Olli to the emergency veterinarian hospital, where it was confirmed that Olli aspirated.
After a few tests and an $800 bill, Olli was discharged with antibiotics and now needs to be watched closely in case her symptoms worsen.
Olli has Megaesophagus, and if she isn’t fed properly, she can easily regurgitate, which can lead to aspiration pneumonia. This can quickly become life threatening.
Thankfully, we caught it early and on time.

❤️🩹 𝗬𝗼𝗱𝗮 • Our poor Yoda underwent another procedure to have the stitches removed from his eyes and to have his wounds assessed.
We are amazed at how incredibly his ear and neck are healing. Although his ear might need to be drained this week, everything else is healing beautifully, with no infection in sight.
What a relief after three complex surgeries and almost losing his entire ear!
Yoda is now slowly recovering from his last procedure and almost returning to his silly self.
We cannot wait to see him finally feel better.
We also wanted to remind you that Yoda’s medical bills are over $7,000 and that we need help to cover his mounting care.

🚨 𝗘𝗺𝗲𝗿𝗴𝗲𝗻𝗰𝘆 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗹𝗹𝗶 • Olli arrived this afternoon from Florida and we immediately noticed that she wasn’t well. Olli is wheezing, gurgling, and had bloody diarrhea.
With her history, we didn’t take a chance and rushed her to the emergency veterinarian hospital where she began vomiting.
We fear that Olli has aspirated, as she was healthy and fine when leaving the hospital in Florida.
Because Olli has Megaesophagus, she can easily regurgitate, which can lead to aspiration pneumonia, and quickly become life threatening.

🐶 𝗖𝗮𝗻𝗲𝗹𝗼 • If you’d seen those pictures without looking at his name, would you have recognized him?
How good does Canelo look?!
Canelo has been with us for a few months now, and he has fully adjusted to the rescue life.
His skin isn’t inflamed anymore, and his coat has beautifully grown. We can also see the light in his eyes.
If you recall, we rescued him from the NYC ACC. He had to be sedated to be removed from the facility due to his being reactive, most likely because he was scared and in pain.
Canelo is now trusting everyone at the rescue, and is coming out of his shell more and more every day.
Just like #WeberNybc, Canelo is a good dog. Sadly, due to his fear reaction, he would’ve been euthanized.
Who could blame his reactivity? He was alone in a shelter, in pain, after his family abandoned him.
We would love nothing more than to see Canelo in a home.

We rescued Tahoe from an NC shelter as a stray after being hit by a car. His owner came forward but she refused to reclaim him when we told her he would need FHO surgery and have to be kept indoors. We stepped up, and since then, we are still looking for Tahoe’s forever home.

Our dog of the week this week is our gorgeous Oriana.
We rescued Oriana a few months ago after she was despicably surrendered to the 69th precinct in Brooklyn.
The officers told the person that Oriana would have to go to the shelter and might be euthanized, and the person said “Okay”.
We then brought Oriana to the veterinarian, as she had embedded stitches from our poorly cropped ears.
The veterinarian then realized that Oriana had a spay tattoo. We believe that Oriana had to undergo a C-section and that she was spayed during the C-section. When we rescued her, she was still lactating.
This is why Oriana was despicably surrendered to the 69th precinct in Brooklyn. Because the “owner” couldn’t make money off her puppies anymore.
Oriana is such a sweet girl, and her life matters to us. This is why we must find her the perfect home!
Oriana has lots of energy, and would be perfect for an active family, or who loves to walk or hike.
All she wants is love. She is also great with other dogs.

❤️🩹 𝗬𝗼𝗱𝗮 • After his last, slightly complex surgery, Yoda is slowly getting back on the mend.
In just one week, Yoda underwent three surgeries, which left us with a medical bill of over $7,000.
Although his last procedure was done a few days ago, we still need to gather the funds necessary to pay the veterinarian hospital.

As for Yoda’s recovery, thankfully everything is going as expected and there are no signs of infection, which was a risk.
Yoda’s last surgery was complex, as the surgeon took a skin flap from Yoda’s neck to reconstruct the entire ear and reconnect the large open wound. Then he had a double cherry eye surgery, and he was neutered.

🚨 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝘂𝘁𝗲𝘀 𝗮𝘄𝗮𝘆 𝗳𝗿𝗼𝗺 𝗘𝘂𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗮𝘀𝗶𝗮 • Kazan’s foster mom reached out to us in a desperate plea for help.
Sue was minutes away from being euthanized due to space issues at the shelter in Miami.
This poor baby was found as a stray, and sadly, with the shelter being full they had to “make space.”
Yes, everyone wants to blame shelters, but without people breeding them, abusing them, and dumping them left and right, shelters wouldn’t be full.
Sadly, Sue has a nasty cough and also started throwing up.
We were initially told that Sue was healthy, as we couldn’t take on another medical case. However, we must help Sue, and we need your help to get her the urgent medical care she needs.

We rescued him a few months ago after he was surrendered to the shelter in Miami. If we didn’t save him, Giuseppe would have been euthanized.
Giuseppe is small, and despite his handicap, he gets around pretty well; he goes to the bathroom on his own, and he loves other dogs.
Giuseppe is an adorable and talkative little boy who deserves the best home.
