Zeus! The King of the gods. ๐Ÿ‘‘ Power, Charisma ๐Ÿ˜, Wise, a leader of leaders, and loved by the ladies. ๐Ÿ’‹

Meet our Zeus.
He is a presence to behold. He is large, intelligent, and much like his name sake, he loves the ladies. Zeus is a mature man that would love to retire from his reign of 2 years here at the shelter and pass it on to the younger ones. He is around 11 years old, but don't let that age fool you. He still has the energy for short runs and loves, loves, loves, his toys and tug of war. He would love to find that home that is willing to let him live out his retirement in a warm happy home, with lots of love and toys. If you have it in your heart to help an older dog, ๐Ÿพ to not let them live out their lives in a shelter, then come down and meet Zeus. We promise, his charms will work on you and you will fall in love with him as quickly as we did.

We want to shout out some of our volunteers!!!

We saw Ms. Tracy this week. She brought her mom with her today. She said she was going to come back and see us on Tuesday. We love that she is coming to be with us.

Ms. Sarah came to see us. She took Noel out for a walk and pup cup. This makes us very happy that they are getting out and around in the city. Apparently last week Noel chased the geese at Camp Jordan. Ms. Sarah said the geese chased her back. It was a great time for all of them.

Yesterday Booker came and saw us. Him and his family recently moved to this area from Chicago. Booker comes to help us every week on his off day. He jumps in to help us in anything we need done. He also posts our dogs to his story on Instagram. Booker is a tattoo artist professionally, so we are going to post his business card to help him make friends in the area.

We also saw Jake from The Spot 4 Dogs Scenic City. He took Bailey and Comet for some training work today. Jake sent us some videos, and they were completely different dogs. He said Comet is really growing on him. He said he might have to foster him soon. Jake is coming back tomorrow to get Bailey and Comet. He said he will probably take Rex too. All the training work they are getting is such a huge help to get them both into homes.

Ms. Robin came down to see us. She said our recent post of we can find something for everyone no matter limitations really inspired her. She comes to just hang out with the dogs. We introduced her to Winter. But her heart is with Thora. So her and Thora spent time outside yesterday.

If you want to volunteer just stop in a talk to us.

Winter wanted us to tell everyone, "she is ready to check out of this bed and breakfast.

Winter is a sweet terrier mix that was found running at large in the City with another dog we named January. Winter is a 35 pound, 4 year old bundle of love. We do believe her to be good with other dogs, she was in the same kennel as January for some time. We do recommend feeding her separate. She does eat her food very fast due to past issues of being hungry. Winter is spayed, microchipped, and up to date on her shots. If you are interested in giving her a new home. Please come see us.

Yesterday was a bittersweet moment for us. We met some amazing new friends, Better Days Dog Resuce. They partnered with us to take 3 of our wonderful babies that have been here for too long. They are gonna have more exposure to hopefully find their forever homes. While at Better Days Dog Rescue, they get to run and play with other dogs, visit with families that are camping, and so much more. We will miss Bruno, Squirrel, and Caesar, but we hope with all our hearts that their stay there is short and they find the perfect families for them!

Sometimes it is easy to lose perspective of what shelters and rescues really do at their heart. You hear the word shelter and you cringe inwardly a bit, you see nothing but sad faces on dogs and cats. We get asked quite often how we do it everyday. ๐Ÿ˜ž

Meet Giovanni (brown tabby), and Irish Cream (black/white), two kitties ๐Ÿ˜ป that came to us in less than ideal situations. Both of these guys would hide, cower, and refused to eat. The team here could see the hidden kitten inside of these two boys though. Time, understanding, patience, and constant reassure to them that they are loved and the world does not have to be so scary is what it takes. So even on days that are hard, and we see things that horrible, or saddening, we can look at some of the fur babies that we have been able to help. ๐Ÿ™€

These two went from, hiding under blankets hoping to be ignored, to lovable playful guys. Asking for belly rubs, patting you leg for more head rubs and boops. Animals like these 2 and so many more are the reason we do this everyday. โค๏ธ

BTW, these two guys will be available for adoption after the 13th, so just in time for Valentine's Day. ๐Ÿ’˜ ๐Ÿ’ If you are looking for your new special companion, consider coming down to meet them and all our other wonderful babies looking for their families.

We want to shout out and thank everyone that has stopped by this week to volunteer with us. We don't shout them out enough for all the help they give us during the week. Nothing is too small or too little for us.

Ms. Tracy comes twice a week to help us with cats. We are so thankful for her and all she does for us. She doesn't have Facebook but her friends let her know about what we are doing on social media. She also helped us out when we first moved in to help get our cat condos so we could keep our smaller kittens in where they are supposed to be living. She also got our screen on the kitten room. We are so thankful for the love she pours into the animals here.

Ms. Stacia comes on Saturdays to help us with making sure we get our medical baths in each week. We are so thankful that she takes time out of her busy life to come help us out each week. She does about 4 or 5 baths a week for us. She also fosters and adopts from us from time to time. She is just an all around asset we could not live without. She also does dog sitting, she is our go to person if anyone is looking for someone. ( We can't tag her page, you can message us with your information and we will pass it along.)

Ms. Sarah comes once a week to take a dog for a pup cup, and then she gives treats. She hasn't been able to come this week due to personal reasons. We just want her to know we love her, and miss her. We hope that everything is going well for her.

Bryan and Erin are our photographers. They usually come see us every Saturday to give back to us by taking all the amazing pictures you see. The favorite part of Officer Vaughn's job is sending those pictures to families that adopt one of the dogs that has been in our care. Bryan is our go to person to capture all of your sweetest moments. Bryan Flanigan

Jake and Anna stopped by to help us work with some of our dogs this week. We were so thankful for them getting a couple of the dogs out, in the rain! We were amazed that Jake and Anna were so committed. They just started working with us this week, but we hope to continue to grow with them and their business. If you are looking for dog training services, feel free to reach out to them. The Spot 4 Dogs Scenic City

Friends of East Ridge Animal Services stopped in this week and dropped off a big donation to us of dog food to help us in the community. We are so thankful for all the work they do to help us. The ladies in this group move mountains for us. Be on the lookout for their totally Pawsome Yard Sales. They will be starting back up soon.

We want to shout out 2 of our foster fails this week. Ms. Jessica and Ms. Naomi came in this week to make it official. V***n and Marley went to their forever homes. We couldn't be happier for these sweet girls.

It truly takes a village to keep this dream going. Everyone is invited to help us. If you have a need or desire to volunteer, reach out to our office. You can message us here, and we can talk to you about opportunities. Don't let disability hold you back either, we can pair you up with someone no matter what. Call the office and let's come up with a plan. If you're a parent that wants to get your child involved in the community, giving back, or a family activity we are here 7 days a week. We can work out a plan that works for your family. If you're a single person, or person away at college that can not have pets. Come see us, we will loan you on of ours for a couple of hours.

You know what is not fun?! Growing up in the shelter. Although the staff here is so kind and takes care of us, having to spend your puppy days in the shelter is not ideal. The team here tries to get us out as much as they can, but we spend a lot of our time not getting to enjoy the life a puppy should. We would LOVE a home and family all our own, where we could run, learn to play with toys, and have the love of a family to keep us warm. Please come down and meet us and maybe take us home.

Good morning and Happy Monday!

Have you had your eyes on someone special for adoption? Today through Friday we are doing free adoptions for dogs. We would love to place some of our older residents that have been with us for far too long. We have 4 dogs that have been with us for longer than six months. Zeus, Molly, Ester, and Caesar. We are including their picture for reference. The first 3 are senior dogs. Caesar is about a yr and a half old.

We have lots of other great dogs that will also have free adopts until Friday. Feel free to message us here, call the office, or stop by to pick out the sweetheart dog.

Have a great week!

We want to thank for assisting us again with vaccines. We want to remind everyone you still have time to get your babies over to the office to get their vaccines for the year. ChattaNeuter provides so many great services to this area. Please show them all the love in the world for the job they do for the people of this area.

Some days we have to make decisions that are in the best interest of our animals, no matter how much it may hurt our hearts personally. We had a citizen ask to adopt Winston Churchill, aka Church. After watching his declining health, despite trying everything we knew to do, we made the choice to let him go to a home. He already has another vet appointment tomorrow arranged by his new mom. Please know that it was a bittersweet goodbye today. His new mom said she would keep us updated on his progress. We did make sure to let her know that he will run off if he is given the chance to get outside. She said she would keep him indoors, especially with his declining health. We hope to pass along good news about better health for him soon. In the mean time, please join us in wishing Church all the best in his new home.

Remember us? We were dumped together in the city of East Ridge. We are now available for adoption! There is 6 of us!!! Tell your friends and family! A shelter is no place for a puppy to be raised๐ŸฅบIf you canโ€™t adopt maybe try and foster. This will give us the chance to learn social skills with humans and possibly other animals. It will also give us the chance to learn to walk on a leash! We will need to be potty trained just as all puppies need toโค๏ธ Please come adopt or foster today! If you want to know more about these pups you can contact us on here or call the office at 423-468-1432. You can also stop by and ask to see us!

Not interested in puppy stuff? We have plenty of full-grown dogs. Learn more about our adoptable dogs on our website eastridgeanimalservices.org
