Surprise! Not really….obviously we have been waiting on Sophie to foal now that we figured out her correct due date. We were a little more careful watching her this week! I set my alarm last night for every two hours and when I checked at 3:45am she was in labor. At 4:05 we had the baby out 💕

Funny story… we’ve been waiting and waiting on Sophie to foal. Last year when she went to the breeders, she did not take on the first try so when she went back for her ultrasound, and we found out she was not bred, we left her there to try again. Apparently….. I put her first breed date and due date in my calendar and never updated it🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
Long story short, I’ve been staying up at night and checking a mare who really isn’t due until the 26th of this month!! 🤦🏻‍♀️ 🤣 Good times🙄

We added to our broodmare herd! Meet KitKat! She’s a 3 (technically 4) year old AQHA mare that we plan to use as a riding horse and broodmare! I’m so excited to have her bloodlines, specifically Skipper W, which I love! I’ve been looking for a while for a mare with this line and found one who fits the program! She’s headed to the trainer at the end of the month to get some finishing work done.
Now to decide on who to beeed her with for the best cross…

Guess what?! Valley held out until 5:30am, and then decided about the same time I needed to get the kids up and ready for school, that she wanted to deliver a baby! Totally missed getting a birthing video because I was on the phone with the vet while my husband was pulling the baby out because her labor was taking too long! Mom and baby are good… the vet thought because he was in the birth canal for so long he might be delayed in trying to stand up to nurse, but he proved us all wrong and stood up within 20 minutes and was trying to nurse!We’ve got a colt!💙💙💙 #aqha #foalingseason2024 #Colts #aqhamare #farmlife #horses
