Established in 2008, Ober-the-Top is a ADGA-Registered American Oberhasli dairy goat herd owned by Abigail Ball of SE Wisconsin. My herd is CAE and CL negative.

Thank you for your interest in Ober-the-Top! I received my first Oberhasli when I was 12 as a 4-H and FFA project on my neighbor Kiki Brackett's farm under the Brackett's Sunburst herd name. Today, I raise Oberhasli dairy goats under my own herd name, Ober-the-Top, which I established in 2008. I studied Animal Science and Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin from 2012-2015, and I will be a

ttending the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine from 2015-2019. I plan to practice large animal veterinary medicine and specialize in small ruminants in the future. My herd is based off the best of Kiki's Brackett's Sunburst Farm. I strive to utilize the best Oberhasli genetics in order to produce offspring that improve upon previous generations and are competitive in the show ring. All kids are removed from their dams at birth and raised on heat-treated colostrum, followed by pasteurized milk until weaning. I practice strict culling in order to keep my herd small, yet competitive. My herd is very small right now, being a college student, but I hope to expand my herd in the coming years. I bring my goats to about 3 or more shows a year, usually including the Wisconsin State Fair and ADGA National Show whenever its location is close. I also participate in Linear Appraisal and DHIR. The last show of the year, the 2024 Wisconsin State Fair was a special one for me. After taking GCH Jr (2021) and then BOB two years in a row (2022-2023), CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Lark passed the torch to her 2-year-old daughter CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Stormy who took BOB and BUOB ✨ And they took 1st place Dam & Daughter together. These does mean so much to me and my breeding program, and I am so proud to own them ❤️ I failed at getting pictures at State Fair this year, so I am using pictures from Nationals this year.

Haycreeks Intrigue Fable
2-year-old 1st freshening Oberhasli

This was a really hard decision, but I have decided to part with Fable. I acquired Fable in 2022 from the WDGA Select Sale. I adore this doe's sweet personality and overall udder attachment, but she is a bit too fine-boned and narrow for the type I breed for in my herd. It took me awhile to come to this decision, as I feel with a couple more freshenings, she could really come into herself and I could be kicking myself. I think she could be a nice doe for someone who has the patience to let her mature and develop. She has a great attached mammary system, as well as strong feet and legs, and dairy character. She's the best milker in my herd currently, averaging about 9lb a day. Please PM me with any interest. Located in southern Wisconsin. Asking $550.

Finally home from the 2024 ADGA National Show and getting a chance to reflect on the last week. I am so proud of my tiny but mighty herd of 6 does and the success they had on the biggest stage. All but one doe made the Top 10, and I even got to stand in the national champion lineup and received my first blue ribbon. Not having been to Nationals in several years, I was really impressed with the overall improvement in quality and numbers in the Oberhasli breed. Pictures of the does to follow, but for now here are the results!

BUT the best of all was 1st place Dam and Daughter with Lark and Stormy! I love these two, and it was so special for both of my milking does to earn this honor together ❤️ I received my first official pottery for this placing

Excited to be back at the ADGA National Show! 🐐 It's going to be a fun week- come visit in the Pavilion, section C 😁 The girls traveled well and are ready to hit the shavings starting with some showmanship tomorrow followed by their breed classes on Wednesday/ Thursday. Stay tuned for updates!

For Sale! Ober-the-Top Twister 🌪️ is registered and DNA'd and still looking for a home of his own. This guy is a hunk- he's powerful and has tons of body capacity, yet still sharp and stylish. His dam Stormy quickly finished her championship within a few weeks of her first freshening. Pictures of Stormy below- she freshened with a beautiful mammary with capacity, a strong medial, a high rear udder, and great teat placement. Stormy is my only daughter out of CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Lark.

For Sale! I have a really nice May-born Oberhasli buckling for sale- Ober-the-Top Twister. Twister has caught my eye from a young age- he's super flashy and has a beautiful jet black chest. His dam is CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Stormy. Stormy is a first freshening 2-year-old that easily finished her championship at least than 3 weeks fresh. I'm really excited for her future and will be retaining her doe kid from this year. Stormy is a daughter of CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Lark and Ober-Boerd Stormbringer (AI). Twister's sire is Early Rise Acres HSS Jaeger, the 2022 WDGA Select Sale Oberhasli buckling. Jaeger sired a dry yearling owned by the Brackett's Sunburst herd that recently went BJDIS at the competitive WDGA Badger Show. Jaeger's dam is the pretty Early Rise Acres OBV Jayda and sire is Haycreeks Shocktop Sully. It's not often I get really attached to a buck, but I think this guy is really flashy and deserves to go to a new home. Located in SE Wisconsin. PM with interest!

It's been an exciting couple weekends of showing between the Tri-State Show in West Salem, WI and the WDGA Badger Show in Elkhorn, WI. I snagged a few quick aisle pictures of everyone just before milking out this afternoon.

✨Proud to say that I have a new permanent champion in the barn!!! Ober-the-Top Stormy finished her championship as a 2-year-old 1st freshener at less than 3 weeks fresh! She is my 4th homebred permanent champion doe. At the Badger Show, she went BOB x1, GCH x2, and RGCH x2. At the Tri-State Show, she went GCH x1 in AOP. Two months ago, I thought she wasn't going to make it with a suspected Clostridium infection, so I'm super grateful to still have her here and have her freshen with two beautiful kids.

✨CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Lark took BOB in 3 rings at the Badger Show, only losing to her daughter Stormy in one ring. She was also an honorable mention for Best in Show in one ring. She also took RGCH x1 at the Tri-State Show in AOP (scratched in the other two rings due to no champion challenge).

✨ Ober-the-Top Frankie, a March born doeling out of Haycreeks Intrigue Fable, earned her dry leg taking GCH x1 at the Badger Show. Did not get a picture of her 👎

✨I missed some of the placing for Haycreeks Intrigue Fable, but she did finish 2nd and 3rd in a couple rings.

Ober-the-Top Stormy x Early Rise Acres HSS Jaeger
Due Date: 5/8/24

Although our original AI didn't work out, I am looking forward to this breeding! Stormy was AIed later in the year, and when that didn't take, I opted for a live breeding option in order to help avoid extremely late born kids. Stormy is a doe that I have high hopes for this year as a first freshener. She was the GCH Junior Oberhasli at the 2023 WI State Fair over 40 does. In addition, she had an excellent 2023 local show record never stepping into a ring taking less than RGCH (3x GCH and 3x RGCH), in addition to a BJDIS win! Stormy is a daughter of CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Lark and Ober-Boerd Stormbringer (AI).
Jaeger is a buck out of the beautiful Early Rise Acres herd owned by the Statton family. He was purchased by friend Heather Schueller at the 2022 WDGA Elite Select Sale. Jaeger's dam Jayda is pictured below and is a pending champion. Jayda is a daughter of a Venti son (Ober-Boerd Sky Viking).
