Ober-the-Top Dairy Goats

Established in 2008, Ober-the-Top is a ADGA-Registered American Oberhasli dairy goat herd owned by Abigail Ball of SE Wisconsin. My herd is CAE and CL negative.

Thank you for your interest in Ober-the-Top! I received my first Oberhasli when I was 12 as a 4-H and FFA project on my neighbor Kiki Brackett's farm under the Brackett's Sunburst herd name. Today, I raise Oberhasli dairy goats under my own herd name, Ober-the-Top, which I established in 2008. I studied Animal Science and Dairy Science at the University of Wisconsin from 2012-2015, and I will be a

ttending the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine from 2015-2019. I plan to practice large animal veterinary medicine and specialize in small ruminants in the future. My herd is based off the best of Kiki's Brackett's Sunburst Farm. I strive to utilize the best Oberhasli genetics in order to produce offspring that improve upon previous generations and are competitive in the show ring. All kids are removed from their dams at birth and raised on heat-treated colostrum, followed by pasteurized milk until weaning. I practice strict culling in order to keep my herd small, yet competitive. My herd is very small right now, being a college student, but I hope to expand my herd in the coming years. I bring my goats to about 3 or more shows a year, usually including the Wisconsin State Fair and ADGA National Show whenever its location is close. I also participate in Linear Appraisal and DHIR. I encourage you to add an Ober-the-Top animal to your breeding program!

Last weekend I attended the IDGA Illini Interstate Showdown in Bloomington, IL. It was a scorcher outside and unfortunately Oberhasli were not official for seniors and only two of the three junior rings, but I still had a great time. Traveling alone to the show, I wasn't able to get any pictures at the show, so I took some pictures last night at home. The does are not fully uddered up in the photos, but I thought they still looked nice. Show results in the photo description.
Next stops are Linear Appraisal in 5 days, and then ADGA Nationals in NE! Can't wait!

I have a couple pretty Oberhasli bucklings that are looking for a new home! They are both long, dairy, and carry strong substance of bone like their dam. They were born on May 7th. Their dam is CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Stormy, a 3-year-old 2nd freshener in my herd, who easily finished her championship last year as a 1st freshening 2-year-old. Stormy was 8th place at the ADGA National Show last year, as well as 1st place Dam & Daughter with her dam Lark. She capped off the year with a BOB win at the competitive Wisconsin State Fair. The sire of these kids is Early Rise Acres WHB Pemberton, a rare AI buck out of the well-known White-Haven PM Bundaberg. Many of you know that while Korey/ Early Rise Acres doesn't post on social media much, he has a beautiful and very competitive herd of Oberhasli in Southern WI.

This past weekend, I attended the Wisconsin Dairy Goat Association Badger State Show. As always, it was a very well-run show- thank you to all the members of the show committee for all their hard work! It was also exciting to show in the Oberhasli Breeders of America D4 Specialty Show under judge and fellow Oberhasli breeder Kirt Schnipke!

The girls did well, and I have two new pending permanent champions in the barn! 🎉

Yesterday I attended the first show of the season at the Tri-State Show in West Salem, WI! I didn't get any pictures at the show besides some udder shots on the stand since I was flying solo, but I managed to get some of the juniors at home this evening! Show highlights are as follows:

Now that I've recovered from my road trip... I'm excited to introduce my new buck VECTOR from the Ober-Boerd herd!
Vector's dam is Ober-Boerd T Vela, the littermate sister to 2024 ADGA National Premier Sire, CH Ober-Boerd T Vance *B. This doe immediately caught my eye when I began my buck search, and is just as stunning in person 😍
Vector's sire is *B Vanjust NRNR Smoked Kandie, a son of SGCH Vanjust DJ Kotton Kandie, the 2024 ADGA National Champion, Best Udder, and Total Performer, as well as the first Oberhasli doe to appraise EX93! I feel very fortunate to incorporate these genetics into my herd- I cannot wait for the fall. Thanks Kirt, for making this special guy available!

✨️Lark buck kid for sale!✨️
After a couple reservations fell through, I'm looking for a home for this special guy, Ober-the-Top Batman. He is LONG, tall, level, and fancy! I will be picky with where he goes because I believe this guy has potential to be very influential in his herd. His dam, CH (pending) Ober-the-Top Lark, is the foundation of my herd and has had consistently beautiful offspring year after year. Lark was the 2nd place/2nd udder 4-year-old at last year's ADGA National Show and has many BOB wins at the local level. Lark is a daughter of Ober-Boerd T Vero, who needs little introduction. Batman's sire is Windscape DV Settlers of Catan (AI), who was the sire of last year's junior national champion, Ober-Boerd Kyurem. Catan perfectly added the length of body, height, and dairy frame that I was looking for with this breeding. Not to mention his dam, Windscape LN Canasta, has amazing rear udder height/ width that I hope he will transmit to his offspring as well.
Asking $700 for Batman. Hate to see this guy go, but he is a bit too related to my herd to stay and I have an equally pretty littermate sister.
