Unfortunately due to some unforseen circumstances, Briar and I were not able to show at the ATFO. She is indeed headed back to WV for the next chapter of her career.

We may not have done everything that I wanted to get done or been able to show off all your new skills; but all is OK. You got a good foundation for the next adventure and you put on weight to a healthy point. You are leaving in a better place than when you came. Best of luck on your future girl!

Ms. Briar had some TLC in preparations for competition.

1. Thanks to the best farrier anyone could ask for! Robert Chambless Horseshoeing for Briar's first set of shoes. She handled it well.

2. Briar had her teeth floated which was desperately needed. Thank you Jason Cashin for your patience with her. Briar was not easy for this and she required a lot of work. Jason does everything by hand and allows the horse to process everything.

3. Thanks to Dr. Meredith Harrison-Spears for Briars adjustment and putting her all back together. This was Briars favorite thing. She had much relief when she adjust the ribs and let a huge yawn and sever eye rolls out.

This sweet girl is all ready to head to WV now. With a few more rides and some last min preparations we will be looking forward to showing our best at the competition.

HOPteamBriar: 11yo Warmblood Mare (holsteiner x trakehaner) She stands 15.2h. Athletic.

Good: Briar is a very smart and loving girl. She is super friendly and enjoys spending time with you. She is easy going for the most part trail riding. She is a very willing partner. She is not spooky, and when she does startle at something she recovers quickly. She will ride in an arena with no problem. She stands quietly to be brushed, pick up feet, and fly sprayed. She enjoys baths and water. She lunges nicely. Responds to verbal cues. Solid mounting, walk, trot, and backing. Working on side passing but can get anxious if rushed. Not spooky around cars or ATVs. She can sit for a few days off and pick right back up where you left her.

Not so good: Briar can get anxious quickly. She does rear if escalates. Either on the ground or under saddle. She will pace or paw if tied and can't see friends. She has terrible anxiety in a stall. (24/7 turned out, she does come into stall to eat) She still is super mouthy with the bit, would do best with a drop nose band. (Does ride fine in a halter, so bitless may be better long term option also.) She is still not real confident or comfortable in the canter although her canter is very smooth when she offers it. (Much more willing to pick up out on the trail).

She currently rides in a sweet mouth single jointed eqq butt snaffle which she seems to like the best. She requires an intermediate rider with trainer due to the short length of training. We were way late to get started into the challenge so she only has approx 20-25 rides, about 60 days. I had to juggle how much exercise she got so she would gain weight.

Overall this mare has huge potential, she is very athletic and smart, with the right training and dedication I believe this mare could go in any direction and excel.

If you are interested in adopting or bidding on her you must complete an application by Aug 8th.

Final required Post: Video Portion
(For some reason it will not allow me to post pictures and videos together🤷🏽‍♀️)

Video 1: This is a clip of Briar's movement. For any potential adopters who would like to see her gaits. (My round pen is still too slick for a canter)

Videos 2: Are things we have been working on. As you see in the video, we still have some bobbles. She has not quite figured out backing the L.

Please refer to final required post with pictures for details of the good and bad.

Hello everyone! As most of you know and I will be headed to the ATFO at the 22-24 of August. We will be competing in the Diamond Division. Please see the schedule listed below.

At this time I would like to ask for sponsors to help cover the stall and meals during the competition, this is a great way to advertise or show your support financially. As trainers, we dedicated a lot of time, energy, blood and sweat to get there horse trained. Not to mention the financial commitment to haul and compete.

Please find the link below to fill out for sponsorships. I greatly appreciate it in advance.

and I are working diligently to get ready for competition. She is so smart and builds with every ride. She is coming out of her shell and enjoying our time together. She has a good work ethic and meets me at the gate every day. Mostly for the nice bucket of grain she is getting. It has been a balance with getting her worked to build muscle and getting her to put on weight overall.

Briar came in on the lean side and thanks to the wonderful organization Heart of Phenoix, they supplied a 30 days worth of UlcerGuard to help put this girls best foot (hoof) first.

At this point she can W/T/C with working on backing. She has graduated from the round pen and enjoys being out. She is not spooky or reactive and if startled she recovers quickly. Her ground manners have much improved and still can be impatient at times. She is enjoying baths after the hot sweaty work days. She picks up her feet with no fuss, and spraying is a non issue.

Briar will be available for adoption after competition. If you are interested please go ahead and apply as the application process is very thorough. You must have an approved application to have a bidders number during the auction at competition.
