HOPteamBriar: 11yo Warmblood Mare (holsteiner x trakehaner) She stands 15.2h. Athletic.
Good: Briar is a very smart and loving girl. She is super friendly and enjoys spending time with you. She is easy going for the most part trail riding. She is a very willing partner. She is not spooky, and when she does startle at something she recovers quickly. She will ride in an arena with no problem. She stands quietly to be brushed, pick up feet, and fly sprayed. She enjoys baths and water. She lunges nicely. Responds to verbal cues. Solid mounting, walk, trot, and backing. Working on side passing but can get anxious if rushed. Not spooky around cars or ATVs. She can sit for a few days off and pick right back up where you left her.
Not so good: Briar can get anxious quickly. She does rear if escalates. Either on the ground or under saddle. She will pace or paw if tied and can't see friends. She has terrible anxiety in a stall. (24/7 turned out, she does come into stall to eat) She still is super mouthy with the bit, would do best with a drop nose band. (Does ride fine in a halter, so bitless may be better long term option also.) She is still not real confident or comfortable in the canter although her canter is very smooth when she offers it. (Much more willing to pick up out on the trail).
She currently rides in a sweet mouth single jointed eqq butt snaffle which she seems to like the best. She requires an intermediate rider with trainer due to the short length of training. We were way late to get started into the challenge so she only has approx 20-25 rides, about 60 days. I had to juggle how much exercise she got so she would gain weight.
Overall this mare has huge potential, she is very athletic and smart, with the right training and dedication I believe this mare could go in any direction and excel.
If you are interested in adopting or bidding on her you must complete an application by Aug 8th.
