We only raised $35 for our transport this week. So maybe you can help us save this little kitten who was hit by a car and no “owner” has come forward. Let’s save the kitty.

Hey gang. Y’all remember Martin? He is a one and half year old that had the cutest damn face and for the life of me I couldn’t understand why no one wanted him. You might recall he was adopted late last year and we had pics of him in his new house at Christmas. Today I got an update of him at his summer home on Cape Cod. I wish they all had this. A safe home. A loving family. I want that for all of them.

Steve Jenkins who adopted Esther the Wonder Pig is launching a campaign to save farm animals. In a world where there is so much anger, hatred and cruelty, he’s one of the good guys. I hope you’ll help. It’ll be good for your soul. 🐖🐄🦃🌹

Two years ago we had to face the fact that we had approved an undeserving adopter. This was after our baby was already in Massachusetts. Luckily a foster home stepped in and within a week an adopter came forward.

Today, Karin Anderson sent me a pic to celebrate Ringo’s second birthday! He’s on the left. Happy birthday baby boy!

We know things are hard right now. We are saving 1/3 the number of animals we historically save every year and it’s been hard on us. Monday we leave with 26 animals. 🙏🏽 This year we have lost money on every trip we’ve taken but we soldier on because saving 1 life is better than none. You can help us stay on the road! No amount is too small (or big!) Here are some of the babies headed “up north” Monday. As well, we have 7 adults leaving that have been waiting since last year to get their one way ticket. ♥️

From Dustin:

Procedure went well, no complications this time, he is home to recover, and has to return Thursday for the stint removal, hopefully it will be over soon! Thank you all for the support, prayers, care, and love. It is most appreciated!

Bobby, our driver, is out of surgery and in recovery. It was a success. ♥️ We are so grateful and want to thank everyone who donated to help them out during this difficult time and for all of your prayers.

05/06/2024

Bobby is back in surgery to address the medical issue he’s been struggling with for a few months now. Prayers are appreciated as we try to get him through this difficult time. 🙏🏽

I was just notified that Mississippi Barking won the narrative non-fiction category for the American Bookfest Legacy Awards. This category was for books published between 2010 -2023. Pretty surreal to win such an important category!

Our guys need a helping hand.

A little over a week ago we asked for prayers for Bobby and Dustin. We almost lost Bobby during a kidney stone removal surgery and now Dustin is in the hospital with a severe reaction to a change in medication he has to take. They have fallen on very hard times and as a result of Bobby’s surgical emergency and inability to work, he was fired from his job. Driving for ARF is all they have and we can’t pay much. I can’t setup a GoFundMe for them because they don’t have a bank account. Which is not unusual for some folks in the Deep South. So I am doing a fundraiser for them the only way I know how.

If you want to help them get over this challenging time they use PayPal for their banking.

Most of you know me personally and/or professionally and you know when I ask for help, we really need help. Bobby and Dustin need a hand. It’s for food, medical, living expenses, and hope. Together we can get them through this. 🙏🏽♥️

A quick update - we had another scare with Bobby last night but he’s ok and on the road to healing. He is home. He will have to undergo another procedure and we’re optimistic it will be after our next transport. Please keep thinking positive thoughts for Bobby and Dustin. ♥️

Today I received this update from Jon, who adopted Sawyer 8 years ago. What you need to know about Sawyer and his two siblings and mom is they were living in an abandoned apartment in West Jackson. They spent their days on the back patio and that is how it was found out they were there. A friend of a friend heard about them when the workers who were working at his house told him of the dire situation. It was decided I should not go to this particular area to get them, so the workers went back that day and got them. All were adopted. It’s one of those rescues I’ll never forget.

Jon tells us Sawyer is so full of empathy. That when he or his girlfriend are upset Sawyer knows immediately and goes to them to lick their face. Doggies are angels on earth. ♥️🐶

Tomorrow we kick off 2024 with one way tickets north for 34 babies. This is an encouraging number for us after a very tough 2023. Willow has a wonderful home with one of my oldest friends in the world and Wheezey and Jinx are headed to our partners. Wheezey has a serious burn on her back from someone throwing hot oil on her 💔 and yet, look at her smile. Our teams up here fought over who would get her. That’s how big our team’s hearts are. Please adopt. Always adopt. They deserve to live in safety and love. They all do.
