β˜€οΈ ENTERING A HEAT WAVE! β˜€οΈ

This week it is expected to be extremely hot! Please take note that this could be very hard on your pets, and you may have to make some changes to your daily routine!

🐾 Walks should be early morning and late evening when it's a bit cooler/shaded. NO walking on the pavement during the day - you can burn their paw pads!
🐾 NO leaving them in the car while you "quickly" run an errand, we do not tolerate it, and you will face a misdemeanor if your dog shows signs of distress.
🐾 Limit the time they are outside in the yard, and be sure they have access to CLEAN, cool water at all times. You should NOT be leaving your dogs outside all day while you go to work.

Please contact our office if you have any questions or concerns. Let's keep our pets safe and well! πŸΎπŸ’š

These 3 babies were orphaned after a Nuisance Wildlife Control Officer trapped their mother and killed her knowing she had young. This is who you hire for wildlife issues. There is a better way! These babies ended up in one of our rehabilitators facilities, to grow up without their mother. PLEASE, let us help you! There is no good reason for this other than to make money off of you and not caring about the animal. We care!

⭐️ REUNITED ⭐️

Jenny has been found safe! Thank you to the good Samaritan who fed her meatballs and to the nice Trumbull Police Officer who responded. Thank you CTDGR Melissa and Jill for putting up posters and setting up cameras to find sweet Jenny.

Welcome home sweetheart ❀️

**MISSING IN TRUMBULL**

This sweet girl got out and was last seen in the Cooper Surgical area of Corporate Drive. She is new to the area and is skittish. If she is seen call the number on the flyer immediately, please DO NOT call out or chase her.

Please share. Thanks!

These fledgling robins are growing up fast in our clinic. It’s not easy being a mother bird! We have countless robins and other baby birds right now that need constant feeding 14 hours each day, ranging from nestlings in incubators to full grown juveniles in our flight cages. All will eventually be released once they are fully self sufficient.

Please remember that many fledgling birds, especially robins and bue jays, may spend a few days on the ground where parents continue to care for them. They will instinctually hide in thickets or bushes where the parents see them gaping for food. The best thing we can do for them is leave them be. Obviously, keeping pet cats indoors this time of year and avoiding all pesticides is crucial for bird survival. Watching for birds when driving will also keep families intact. Robins and other species have an unfortunate habit of flying in the face of danger to lure potential predators away from their young. This is not effective with speeding cars and many birds are hit on roads as a result. If you see a bird in the road, slow down and don’t assume it will fly away.🌎

Leave them alone!

Leave them alone!

This is our first fawn of the season. Please leave fawns where you found them. Raising fawns in captivity is a last resort. Mothers do not travel far from their fawns. It is normal for fawns to be by themselves curled up in your yard. Mother deer only return to their fawns a few times per day, usually dawn and dusk. Her instinct is to lead danger away from her fawns. Leave outdoor lights off and supervise pets. For the first 7 days after birth, fawns are not strong enough to follow their mothers. They curl up and depend on their spots and lack of scent to protect them while mom is foraging.🌎

Please let our natural resources do their job. Pesticides and Rodenticides kill more than just the targeted, they follow down the food chain. πŸπŸ°πŸ¦ŠπŸ¦†πŸ¦β€β¬›πŸ¦…πŸ¦‰πŸ¦‡πŸπŸ¦‹πŸœπŸ•·οΈπŸ’πŸ¦πŸ¦¨πŸΏοΈπŸπŸΏοΈπŸͺΊ

Spring is here and you may begin to see baby birds out of their nests. These fledglings don't need to be rescued. They are learning how to be a bird and the parents will be nearby watching.

If you care, leave it there.

May is the time of year when many species are raising their young, and there is a good chance of encountering young wildlife. Young animals may appear to be β€œabandoned”, but in most cases, an adult is likely out of sight close by, waiting for you to leave.

The best thing you can do for young wildlife is to leave them alone. If you are certain that a wild animal has been injured or orphaned, before touching it or moving it, please consult the DEEP website for a list of licensed wildlife rehabilitators.

🐢We have to ask you all a favor again.🐢
We are really swamped with lost dogs. We appreciate everybody’s support, but we ask that you do not refer us on every single lost dog out there. We ask that you share these tips with the lost dog owners.
Give them time to do their due diligence first.
If they don’t have any luck, they will know to reach out to us.
We see all these lost posts with multiple people referring our group.
Most Animal control officers will refer us if they don’t have luck when helping the family find their dog.
We appreciate you all very much. We just ask that you just share these tips at first. This will be a huge help!
