🎃 🎃 If y’all ever wondered why we’re in the veterinary field and adamantly *NOT* in the business of training, I present for your amusement a collection of our Halloween bloopers. And by *bloopers*, I mean we don’t have anything that ISN’T a blooper to share. So, please enjoy but MORE IMPORTANTLY ~ we beg you to put ALL of your costume adorned friends (even if they’re only dressed up in spirit-trust us, we get it!) in the comments. We want to see ALL the ghouls, goblins, the bumblebees, the hot dogs, and the grouchy cats who’re saying “heck no” to such nonsense👿 . Happy Halloween, Easton Vet fam. We can’t express enough how much we appreciate you guys 👻

No veterinarians were harmed in the making of this video 😂 But more importantly? For optimal viewing pleasure, we recommend watching on a tablet or computer.

Many of you have gotten used to seeing Dr. Odin (or Odie as his colleagues have affectionately nicknamed him) around the office, offering candy and enthusiastically asking questions about your furry friends. Sadly for us, Dr. Odie has chosen to pursue higher education, and although we’ll still get to see him occasionally, he’ll be busy pursuing studies in first grade. When Dr. Dan was asked how he felt about Dr. Odin’s decision, he of course wished him the absolute best, but did note that sometimes having two veterinarians in the office at one time was “just a bit too much ego”. We love you, Odie!! ❤️ 🐕 🐈

Hi guys. So, I’m pretty sure most of y’all know we only treat dogs and cats here. Every now and then, however, someone really nice comes in and requests an exam for their *dog* or *cat* (wink wink), when clearly what they bring to us is neither.

Take Maisy for example. Clearly, we can all agree this beautiful creature is not of this world! Despite her voluminous silky white fur reminiscent of cirrus clouds, her wiggly vibrations of goodness + joy simply could not be contained. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that, if this most incredible beast were a song, she would definitely be “What a Wonderful World”.

That *perfect*, infinitely boopable nose is Maisy’s *one* feature which is suspiciously dog-like. Still, though…we just can’t be sure. One thing IS for certain~whatever type of creature Maisy is, she has fully mastered the fine art of heart stealing. Be careful with yours should you ever cross paths 💕

Poor Izzy, the call backs keep piling up. Either that, or someone’s messing with her 😂 .

Thank our lucky stars that she hasn’t, in fact, walked out. We love you, Iz! ❤️

It took me a minute to post this one.

I know our Easton family *knows*, and it’s an honor to be by the sides of so many of you who have navigated the same painful process.

The goodbyes are inevitable, and they wreck our hearts.

But : the gift of this love is that our hearts *do* mend~and they’re left bigger, and always with even more space for love.

How lucky are we, to be loved so hard by our friends.

How lucky are Dr. Dan and I, to have had Eleanor as our best friend.

But letting her go has crippled me.

Holly Chasin, I’m forever grateful to you for bringing all three of the most wonderful beings into my life 🩷

*no captions. Words have temporarily left me ❤️

Hey y’all, for those of you who didn’t know the story of the second-ever black feline Easton resident named after our friend and predecessor, Mitch, here it is in a nutshell: Mitch (the cat, not the vet 😊 ) came to us with a different name, and was dropped off by his *owners* pet sitter with a five day old, necrotizing neck wound which was about to kill him. As we performed additional diagnostics, it was determined that Mitch was severely hyperthyroid, in mid stage kidney disease, experienced nightly focal seizures, and was unable to jump without excruciating pain due to what was likely a birth defect which could have been surgically repaired when he was young, but at 12 years old, it was too late.

His *owners*, who were on vacation and unable to be reached in a timely matter, were upset that Dr. Dan had gone ahead and performed what was life saving surgery. At that point, we advised them that they didn’t need to worry about paying us, but we would be keeping this incredibly sweet boy, and ensure that he be properly cared for and loved for the time he had left.

So our little puma served a brief stint as our *hospital cat* before Dr. Dan quickly agreed that Mitch needed our company at night. So, up we moved the litter box, and after that we started feeding Mitchy upstairs, and of course he joined our pack at night ~ and before we were even aware of exactly what happened, this sleek and shiny feline just basically stole our hearts quickly and with such skill! Ifykyk, and I know boatloads of you do 🥰 !

Mitchell needed lots of medications, which he so easily took. During his multiple blood rechecks, he was sure to let us know that he’d be opening up the proverbial can of whoop a** if we didn’t move quickly 😆. In the beginning, Mitchy divided his time pretty equally between our desks; this guy made SERIOUS effort to distribute fairly the attention we were constantly seeking from him. Fam: we fell HARD for this guy.

Mitch was so affectionate; he’d stretch out his long front leg whenever one of us passed him just to wrap his little paw gently around our fingers-just like a baby! He lavished us with kisses and comforted us with his incessant purring (truly a soothing sound). We even enjoyed daily outings in the field with our courageous puma, constantly amazed by his curiosity, commitment to living his life to the fullest, and ability to just fill our hearts with so much darn joy!

While we knew Mitch was on borrowed time, we started to naively think he’d be in our lives for at least another year-if not more! But, sadly, his decline recently accelerated, and we knew we didn’t want our boy to suffer any more than he had in the 12 plus years before we had known him. So, with grief stricken hearts, we said goodbye to this most beloved friend of ours on Friday night.

We’re still upset that he didn’t come to us sooner, but then we’re reminded of so many of our wonderful Easton vet peeps who adopt older friends, perhaps ones with pre existing medical conditions, or who come with all sorts of trauma. We are so very fortunate, truly, to be surrounded by such incredible people whose hearts are soft and kind towards animals. Y’all are the ones who’ve reminded us that love isn’t finite, and whether we have the privilege of sharing our lives with dogs and cats for a month or 18 years~the love is just as powerful. And also, these friends of ours~ even when they’re with us for too short of a time~leave our hearts bigger: always.

So, just again want to remind our fam of how very much we appreciate you. Please hug all those floofballs extra tight, and know that if you’ve experienced a recent devastating loss of your own, we’re keeping you in our hearts 💕

Good morning, Easton Vet fam! I wanted to take this opportunity to a) post some photos of a few of our extremely good looking friends and b) let y’all know about an upcoming office closure. Our niece, Olivia Babcock, is headed once again to the Final Four in women’s volleyball. As y’all know, we don’t have kids ourselves but have been ridiculously blessed with awesome nieces and nephews, and we share in their struggles, achievements, and milestones as if they were our own.

We will be CLOSING THE OFFICE ON Wednesday, December 18th at 3pm so that Dr. Dan, Eleanor, and I can get out to Louisville. We will be back in the office at 9am on Thursday, December 26th.

***Izzy, our Jack of all trades (and actually master of them all as well wink 😉) will be in the office on MONDAY, DEC 23rd from 9:30 a- 1:30 p for medication refills only. ***

If, during our and absence, any of your friends experience a life threatening emergency, please contact: MedVet in Norwalk 203.838.6626; Norwalk VCA 203.854.9960; Shoreline in Shelton 203.929.8600, or your closest 24 hour emergency center. Additionally, we’re keeping lots of slots open for friends who will need to be seen upon our return on the 26th.

We want to wish our Easton Veterinary family a holiday season full of joy, gratitude, peace~and health for humans and pet friends alike ❤️
