Well since Jason decided to sell his good horse and fell in love with one of Sonya & Vic’s VSR Performance Horses yearling fillies. We made him sort on foot this past weekend 😂 Just kidding. Incase you didn’t know you can learn more about reading cattle on foot vs being on your horse! Turns out is a great sorting horse 😜 Shout out to Rob at Crossroads Ranch LLC for always putting on a good time. If you looking to read cattle, do a little roping or sorting. He’s your man! I believe he has one spot open for his March clinic but they go fast!!!

🌬️❄️ Blizzard Outside, Cozy Inside ❄️🌬️
I meant to post this last night, but here’s a little peek at life in our barn during a blizzard. With no other heat source, the temperature in our concrete barn is sitting just below 40°F this afternoon—even with a real feel of -4°F outside! The benefits of a well-built concrete barn are hard to beat.
No Hands January
We’ve moved on from No Stirrup November to something even better—No Hands January! I’ve been working with Moo (Buckin Foolish) to ride off my seat and legs with minimal pressure, and this coming 3-year-old stud has blown me away. For an amateur rider like me, Moo’s brains, patience, and willingness to learn are unmatched. Not to mention, he’s starting to look incredible, too! 🐴✨I couldn’t be more excited for his future—and for the foals he’ll sire. This guy is proof that talent and temperament go hand in hand. What goals are you working on with your horses this month? Let me know below! 👇#NoHandsJanuary #BuckinFoolish #BlackCloverRanch #TrainingProgress #ColtStarting #FutureStud #HorseGoals2025
Mako - The Brave
Despite popular belief, Jason is actually a big softy when it comes to horses. We don’t normally save or rescue horses, but this weekend, one big sorrel gelding stole his heart. Meet Mako!
We picked him up at the auction—10 years old, kind-eyed, with a nasty cut on his back leg. Of course, we had to make up a story for him since we know nothing about his past. According to his legend, Mako was a trail riding horse in Florida who gave sunset rides along the beach. One evening, while wading in the ocean, a shark attacked! Mako bravely saved his rider, taking the bite on his back leg to protect them. 🦈✨
He’s settling into the barn nicely—quiet, well-mannered, takes shots like a champ, bathes easily, and seems to have a heart of gold. Once he’s rehabbed, Mako will be looking for his forever home.

Tell me you want fed again without telling me you want fed 😂😂🎅🏻
🚧🐴 It’s not all about riding horses or showing them off! At Black Clover Ranch, we truly do it all. Whether it’s building barns, creating our own media, or putting in new pasture fence, every part of this business is a labor of love.
We take pride in every nail, board, and post that goes into building the ranch—crafted with our own four hands 🙌. It’s hard work, but it’s ours, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.

We’ve wrapped up our show season here at Black Clover Ranch! We finished out the year at the Missouri Ranch Horse Association MoRHA Fall Finale and what a year it’s been. We’ve learned so much and look forward to continuing to grow and be the best we can for our horses.
Moo (Buckin Foolish) completed his first year in the pen, and we’re excited to see what his three-year-old season will bring. Magnum (Rock N Magnum), our young veteran, carried both Sydney and Jason to many first-place wins—and even a buckle or two! 😉
I’ll share our full show results tomorrow, but for today, we rest. Feeling grateful for the opportunity to show these amazing horses and for the gifts they are to us. ❤️
