We understand how frustrating and stressful it can be when your pet is diagnosed with a serious illness that requires a referral to another hospital. 🩺❤️🐾
To make your pet’s care easier, we are now offering advanced internal medicine consults and procedures RIGHT HERE IN OUR CLINIC—where you and your pet feel most comfortable.
Our veterinarians now have the opportunity to collaborate with Linda Okonkowski, DVM, DACVIM (SAIM), a Board-Certified Small Animal Internal Medicine Specialist. Dr. Okonkowski provides advanced services, including ultrasound and endoscopic procedures for both diagnostic and therapeutic purposes.

By eliminating the need for a referral to a different clinic, we not only reduce stress on your pet but also offer greater convenience for you, ensuring a more seamless and compassionate experience when your pet needs care.🥰

🥶As temperatures drop, antifreeze exposure becomes a major risk for pets. ⚠️

Ethylene glycol has a naturally sweet taste, making small spills attractive to dogs and cats.
Even minimal ingestion can lead to severe toxicity and life threatening kidney damage within 24 to 72 hours.‼️

Common early signs include ataxia, vomiting, increased thirst and urination, or sudden lethargy. Because ethylene glycol is absorbed quickly, rapid veterinary intervention is essential.

Winter safety practices for pet owners include regularly checking for vehicle leaks, cleaning spills immediately, securing antifreeze containers, and preventing unsupervised outdoor drinking.

Awareness and fast action are key to preventing a tragic outcome.❤️

💩Key Reasons F***l Tests Are Important:
✅Early Parasite Detection: Many parasites don’t show symptoms until they’re well-established, but a f***l exam finds them, allowing for quick treatment.
✅Prevent Serious Illness: Untreated parasites can cause anemia, weight loss, vomiting, and other severe problems
✅Protect Your Family❤️: Parasites like roundworms and hookworms can spread from pets to people (zoonotic risk), making testing vital for household health.
✅Establish a Baseline: It helps your vet understand what’s normal for your pet’s gut health.
✅Diagnose Other Issues: Can reveal bacteria, viruses, or poor nutrient absorption.
✅Targeted Treatment: Newer antigen tests can find infections missed by traditional methods, leading to better outcomes

Thanksgiving is a wonderful time to gather, relax and feast! Here are tips to help keep your pet SAFE and COMFORTABLE this holiday. 🧡🤎

🍗🥛Food and drink:
Avoid toxic foods: Do not give pets alcohol, chocolate, grapes, raisins, macadamia nuts, onions, garlic, or xylitol (an artificial sweetener found in some sugar-free items).
Prevent access to fatty foods: High-fat foods like turkey skin and gravy can cause pancreatitis, an inflammation of the pancreas.
Handle bones with care: Cooked poultry bones can splinter and cause choking or internal blockages.
Guard against raw bread dough: Raw dough can rise in a pet’s stomach, causing painful gas or a life-threatening condition called Gastric Dilatation Volvulus (GDV).
🙀Environment and stress:
Keep pets in a safe space: Stress from guests, loud noises, and changes in routine can be overwhelming for pets.
🎄Secure decorations: Keep decorations like mistletoe, holly, and lilies away from pets, as some can be toxic.
⚠️Prevent escape: Be careful that pets don’t escape through open doors as guests arrive and leave.
🐇Keep exotic pets safe: Keep exotic pets away from guests to ensure everyone’s safety and comfort.
🤎General tips
Provide a safe alternative: If you want to give your pet a special treat, offer a small amount of unseasoned, boneless turkey or give them a food puzzle with their usual food.
👀Keep a watchful eye: Monitor your pet for signs of distress, such as changes in behavior, depression, pain, vomiting, or diarrhea.
🚨 Call for help immediately: If you suspect your pet has eaten something toxic, call your vet or the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Hotline right away at (888) 426-4435
