Crayon Stars Suncatchers - Let's Get Crafty! 🎨
Tired of those broken crayons? Don't toss 'em! This DIY project turns them into magical, colorful suncatchers that will brighten up any room. It's so much fun to watch the crayon shavings melt and transform. Get ready to create some art!

You'll Need:
🖍️ Old crayons
✏️ A sharpener or knife
🫙 Bowls or cups
🍳 Baking sheet
🫙 Parchment paper
🍪 Metal cookie cutters
🥢 A chopstick or skewer
🧵 Ribbon or string

Steps:
1. Get your oven ready at 250°F (120°C).
2. Take the paper off your old crayons.
3. Use a pencil sharpener to make a bunch of crayon shavings. Put the different colors in separate cups.
4. Put your metal cookie cutters on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
5. Fill each cookie cutter with a thin layer of crayon shavings. You can make them all one color or create a beautiful rainbow mix.
6. Pop the baking sheet in the oven for 3-5 minutes, just until the shavings are all melted.
7. Take it out of the oven. Before it hardens, poke a little hole at the top of each star with a chopstick.
8. Let the stars cool down all the way, then they'll pop right out of the cookie cutters.
9. Tie a ribbon through the hole and hang your new suncatchers in a sunny window. So cool!

½ cup baking soda (sodium bicarbonate)

1 cup white distilled vinegar

Food coloring (a variety of bright colors)

Muffin tin or shallow tray

Small cups, spoons, or squeeze bottles (for pouring vinegar)

Optional: Glitter or biodegradable confetti (for extra sparkle)

Instructions:

Step 1: Prepare Your Workspace
Set out a muffin tin or shallow tray on a flat surface. For easy cleanup, protect the area with newspaper, wax paper, or a plastic tablecloth.

Step 2: Add Baking Soda
Spoon about 1 tablespoon of baking soda into each muffin cup or tray section. Gently flatten the surface with the back of the spoon.

Step 3: Add Color
Place 3–4 drops of food coloring on top of the baking soda in each section. Use a variety of colors for a rainbow effect, or mix shades for unique bursts!

Step 4: Optional Sparkle
Sprinkle a little glitter or biodegradable confetti over the baking soda for dazzling, sparkly fireworks.

Step 5: Create the Fireworks
Carefully pour vinegar over the baking soda and food coloring using a spoon, cup, or squeeze bottle. Watch as the fizzy, bubbling reaction erupts into bright, colorful fireworks!

Baking Soda Balloon Experiment

Ingredients:

1 balloon (any color)

1 small plastic bottle (an empty water bottle works perfectly)

2–3 tablespoons baking soda

1/2 cup vinegar

Optional: Food coloring (for a colorful fizz)

Optional: Glitter or essential oils (for extra sparkle or scent)

Directions:

Prep the Balloon:
Insert a funnel into the neck of the balloon and carefully pour 2–3 tablespoons of baking soda inside.
Set the balloon aside, keeping the baking soda inside.

Fill the Bottle:
Pour 1/2 cup of vinegar into your plastic bottle.
For added fun, mix in a few drops of food coloring or a couple drops of essential oil.

Attach the Balloon:
Gently stretch the balloon’s opening over the mouth of the bottle, making sure it’s snug and airtight.
Important: Don't let the baking soda fall into the vinegar just yet.

Start the Reaction:
Once everything is in place, lift the balloon upright so that the baking soda falls into the bottle.
Watch the fizzing reaction begin as carbon dioxide is released, causing the balloon to inflate like magic!

Experiment and Explore:
Try using different food coloring combinations, balloon sizes, or amounts of baking soda and vinegar to see how they change the reaction.
Add a pinch of glitter for a sparkling twist!
