Out of multiple hatches of Eruption Discus I have only had one come out with the eruption pattern with a red base. Fish in left photo is red base, right is a normal blue base for comparison. Hopefully this one pairs up soon.

Both Stendker Santarem/Alenquer pair decided to spawn on the same day again yesterday. This is the second spawn for both pair.

Learned a hard lesson today, don't trust the cheap power strip/surge protectors from Walmart. Storms last night, never lost power but there must have been a surge that tripped one of my power strips. Power shut off to main 60 gallon tank. Woke up this morning to fish gasping at surface and nitrates off the chart. Lost one 7" eruption discus so far. Three water changes and cannister cleaning later the remaining fish are looking okay. Lesson learned, don't save a couple bucks on a power strip that is protecting $1000 worth of fish. 😕

Moved around 10 fry from the second pair over to this pair and started the change over to RO water for the second pair. Will hopefully have another batch of eggs soon!

Pair # 2 has around a dozen free swimmers. I will give it a couple weeks and move these to the other pair as surrogate parents allowing this pair to spawn again.

Small but successful first hatch for the Stendker Santarem/Alenquer pair. Fry are free swimming and feeding off parents slime coat.

Stendker Alenquer/Santarem fry close to free swimming. Parents moved them away from unhatched eggs but have not cleared out the eggs yet. They are doing great for first time parents.

Getting some hatching of wigglers off the second batch of eggs. First batch of eggs are not looking good today but will give it some time.

Eggs are looking good, about 90% look fertile. Caged so they don't become caviar. Next 36 hours will be key. Doing 75% daily water changes and treating with Rid Ich + to prevent fungus.

About 200 eggs from the first pair. Also the second new pair had a small spawn on the aquarium glass overnight.

Two new breeding pair after swapping fish with Mark Anderson yesterday. Stendker Alenquer and Stendker Santarem. They are settling in and being acclimated to RO water.
