This is a good time of the year for me to sharpen your ice auger blades. Over the next few weeks I have some time available. If you have blades that need sharpening, we can set up a time to get that done. I don’t allow augers in the shop anymore but if you can get the blades off, I can do them. Finished up a batch of fish and all my antler mounts. Now I get to relax a bit and do some ice fishing, if the ice hangs in there. I still have some room in this current group of fish coming in. Those are scheduled to be done by Thanksgiving.

Tis the season. I’m in the market for deer capes. Basic criteria are, 3 1/2 year olds and up, 160 lb. dressed and up. I can return the antlers/skulls after the cape is removed. Price depends on size and condition. Thank you.

Spent a few days there a few years ago, with Dave, doing some fall fishing. Best walleye fishing I’ve ever had. It was cool to see the cabins and places where Fred Bear stayed when he bear hunted in the area. Dave does a great job providing for the wishes of his guests.

I thought I would take a few minutes to share my opinions on prepping a fish to have mounted. These are my opinions based on 45 years in the business. Winter fish are easy. Let them freeze, take them home, wrap tightly in plastic only, and freeze. Don’t wrap fish in towels. I know that’s what it recommends on line but I have seen bad things happen to fish wrapped in towels. Summer fish can be tougher. Get them into a freezer asap. Don’t put fish on ice in coolers. Wrap them tightly in plastic only, and freeze. The goal is to freeze them quickly while the color is good. Always call if you have any questions. Thanks for reading and good luck out there.

I have made the move and have got my “new” little shop organized and I’m back to work. I have a full plate this summer and early fall. I’d like to thank everyone that helped me get rid of inventory. I have a small amount left you can see some pics. I’ll be locking the doors for good at 3pm Saturday the 8th. I still have bait to sell down so if you need anything, stop in. No markdowns on bait unfortunately as I have somewhere for it to go after I close. Thank you to everyone. The outpouring of support and the nice comments mean a lot and are very humbling. I’ll still be doing taxidermy from home, scaled back a bit, and keeping my phone numbers the same. ❤️

Hello everyone. This weekend is my 36th and last opening day of fishing. Starting Friday , April 30, at 7am, the remaining tackle will be 50% off. Remaining rods will be 20% off. I’ll have minnows, crawlers, worms and leeches for the start of the fishing season. I want to thank everyone who has supported my little business over the years. You have kept me going for a long time and I’m very grateful, but it’s time for a change. After I close my business on Birch I will continue to do taxidermy at my home. Today is my 36th anniversary in my Birch St. location. I’ve met so many great fishermen and sportsmen over the years. Many are gone now, and I’ve watched many kids grow up and teach their own children about fishing. Fishing just keeps going on. Anyway, starting Saturday the 17th, all of my inventory will go on sale. Once the inventory is gone my goal is to sell the real estate and move my taxidermy business to my home. I’m going to keep working, hopefully not quite as hard, in semi- retirement. Thank you!!

Hi everyone. I’m taking some time off to do a little bow hunting up north. If you shoot a deer while I’m gone get it skinned wrap it up well in plastic pulling the bag up around the base of the horns to seal out the air, covering the ears and all of the face.
