Being a vendor at The NUT turned out to be not great because of the disappointing weather. Even when you are the last booth standing. So instead of crying about the rain, we are going to make some sunshine!! This week only - we are selling our “locals special” large 24 ounce jar of our blue ribbon honey for a discounted price of $24. We have a cooler set up for you to pick up at your leisure. We're gearing up for The NUT! 🥳
Expect our amazing honey 🍯 ,honey lollipops 🍭 , beeswax candles 🕯️, and more plus our new 3QA “Save the Queens” merch at our booth on October 4 from 11am-8pm.

Over the weekend, there will also be a whole lineup of activities like trail runs, bike races, live music, and more! Come out to North Fork Park and enjoy the great outdoors with us.

Well our girls 🐝 🐝 certainly know that they don’t have a queen 👑 anymore 😢 . They made 7 queen cells to try to make a new one. Today we did a newspaper 📰 combine with Queen Scarlet and crew 🐝 🐝. Crossing our fingers 🤞🏼 that it works and these sweet girls 🐝 🐝 have a better chance at making it through winter ❄️ .

We had our honey 🍯 analyzed for DNA of the pollen in it. It tells you what flowers 🌺 the bees 🐝 🐝 visited. Here is the one from our home 🏡 hives. I was a little skeptical so I sent in two samples - the other is from the veggie 🥕 farm . They are similar except the home honey has 🍎 from our neighbors trees and bluebells which are all around us. And the farm has pumpkin 🎃 ! So fun to be able to show this to people at markets.

Today is a little sad here at 3QA. After trying everything, we were forced to remove a queen from a hive that was not doing well so we can combine them with another hive. As is, the hive would never make it through winter. They were happy just being a tiny hive on about 3 frames (normal is 20 frames this time of year). They call this a “dink”. So we painlessly “removed” the Queen and in a couple of days when the rest of the bees figure out their queen is missing, they will be combined with another smallish hive to become strong enough to survive winter. It was a tough decision. We will save her body as a swarm lure in spring.
